An idiosyncratic title demands your attention
By T-kun (1 review) from London , 07 Oct 2011[Highly rated reviewer]
Whilst seemingly aimed at Japanese RPG fans with a strong emphasis on gathering, alchemy (read item creation with farmed ingredients) and arguably very traditional battle mechanics, this is a pretty (and pretty) endearing little game with an emphasis on quirky characters and dialogue, combined with an emphasis on free exploration on an ever-developing map. It starts out slow, but patience is rewarded in the long term - although the slightly old-school approach may be off-putting to those seeking instant gratification. Japanese voice acting is included which may appeal to some (myself included) but it's more a case of willingness to accept a cutesy and bizarre world with an almost childlike sense of wonder and personal growth. Sadly repetition and lack of clear objectives may kill the magic for a great deal of gamers.- Was this review helpful to you?
