sheeps go 'bleet'
By sharpize (14 reviews) from Macmerry , 27 Aug 2007[Highly rated reviewer]
I've only played the demo myself but a friend of mine who has the game concurs...
10/10 xbox mag, 95% pc mag, 5 out of 5 - reviewers on this site. What's so good about it? Well, it is very very pretty. I spent a good long while just swimming in the intro bit just looking at the water and the flames and watching the plane go down.
But ofcourse, one has to get on with the game and that's where it all started going wrong. You see, this is what happens when a games dev sets up a team dedicated to making water look good and sets up nothing for a story. Because there isn't one. You don't understand what you're doing and you won't know why. Nothing makes sense either. Everyone is killing each other because they've used the drugs so what's the first thing you start doing in the game... you guessed it, you start injecting.
There is no interaction with scenery, no dialogue, no path options. You basically follow a set route of death and destruction from point A (the beginning) to point B (the end). Its Half Life, 60 years ago, underwater, except in Half Life you could atleast explore.
So what's new. Well nothing, except how you kill. Everything I wanted from this game is missing, including online play. This game will be flooding the 'preowned' bins in weeks, if not earlier. The check box after this comment is a joke 'Contains spoiler?'. It doesn't even have a point, let alone a story... let alone a surprise ending.- Was this review helpful to you?

(138)Not what I expected
By JohnShepardN7 (10 reviews) from London , 24 Nov 2012Just rented to see what all the fuss was about, found it abit boring without much of a story to follow, apart from go here shoot this without any info why. But it may be a great game for others if this is the type of game you love, dark scary bits with monsters. Love the Resident Evil games so thats why I gave this game a go. nothing like Resident Evil as no puzzles to solve and no back story to follow.- Was this review helpful to you?

This was one of first games I played on the Xbox 360. It's still to this day one of the best I've played. The look, the gameplay and everything inbetween is just brilliant 5/5 loved it- Was this review helpful to you?

Brilliant, exciting, dark and fun
By Nu-Nu (17 reviews) from Aberdeen , 13 Jun 2012This is one of the more eerie and fun first person shooter out there, set in a scary, dark but beautiful underwater world. I didn't find this game repetitive at all. You have guns and weapons, but what I found most fun was using the plasmids, which are basically biotic powers, ranging from fire to thunder to swarms of bees.
Deciding what power would suit your situation is a part of the fun. Finding how you can use your powers with the environement is another, for example, you fight some spilcers (basically mutant humans) in water, and if you thunder shock the water, it will damage all the splicers in the water.
There is also a morality theme, a good vs evil path which either you can take when it comes to the little sisters. Kill them or save them. Kill them and become more powerful and have an easier game or save them and don't become as powerful. What you choose will effect your ending.
The story is exciting and dark, with fantastic twists.
I also love the graphics, it has a crazy mutant steampunk/60's/art nouveau feel about it.
Great game, needs to be played.- Was this review helpful to you?

Pretty but boring
By a customer , 27 Feb 2012It had some nice ideas and everything but the gameplay was rubbish. Played it for about an hour and then sent it back it got so boring just running around and mashing buttons.
The fact you respawn straight away whenever you die means even the designers expect you to die constantly.- Was this review helpful to you?
