One of the best combat flight simulators on console.

This game has a metacrtic score of 77 ( higher than Hawx or Ace Combat ) the other reviewers saying this game is outdated haven't got a clue what they are talking about. Birds of steel is a dogfight game that can be appreciated by arcade gamers but also by players who love simulation and realism. Many missions, the Hystorical Campaign and a good online multiplayer complete a game that everyone needs to try. The visuals are amazing and even the ground is more than just a flat satellite image.- Was this review helpful to you?

(7)Disappointing at first but improves as your skills improve
By cooper101183 (5 reviews) from Seaham , 14 Jul 2012I had never played an aircraft simulator game before and that was evident the first time I played it. I was terrible and was about to turn the game off and blame it instead of me but I stuck through turned the difficulty to easy and played a few levels and I'm glad I did. The levels are are short and sweet with clear objectives, the graphics are disappointing at first but then you start to appreciate them. Overall the playability was good however I don't think Ill be renting anymore flight simulators theyre just not for me.- Was this review helpful to you?

Challenging air combat
By FrasBlade (54 reviews) from Hemel Hempstead , 29 Mar 2012I actually really liked this game, its very difficult and takes some getting used to it can be quite challenging, i found the campaign even hard too!!! I found the online battle quite novel though and was quite enjoyable. Huge selection of planes though and you do get to use a good mix in the campaign as well as in the online battles. One thing that is good is that you get to play both sides in the campaign, allies and axis, bit annoying that its the pacific theatre as I would have loved to played battles from 1939 onwards instead of 1941..cough cough!!!such as the Battle of Britian which is one of the most iconic Airpower battles of all time. Included in the unlockable aircfraft are not just single engine fighters but single engine bombers, torpedo bombers, twin engine fighters, bombers, night fighters and twin and four engine medium and heavy bombers which is a really nice change. If you like a challenging game with historical accuracy then this is for you, I found it hard and frustrating at times but rewarding when i achieved things, worst thing for me was the sights being non colour changable as they are always red/green and when you are colour blind red green it is very annoying, some games have addressed this with adjustable sights or non standard colours but unfortunately this doesn't. The aircraft you have unlocked can be customized which is a nice touch too.- Was this review helpful to you?
