Bliss Island first appeared as a web-based minigame, and has been played by many PC owners the world over. Now a version specially tailored for the PSP is here: yet another way to wile away the hours away from the glare of the monitor. The game is a skill-based experience that involves keeping kinetic objects moving. Using just the analog stick and an action button, players can attack, defend, juggle, race and direct a selection of characters through a series of minigames. On your arrival at Bliss Island, you'll meet and play with Hoshi the Zwooph, a cute blue creature, who can project precision puffs of air from his long trunk. Normally, Hoshi uses this skill to create the clouds that float over the tropical island, but every Friday, Hoshi uses his puff-powers to compete in a whole series of games and challenges. And it's in these games that Hoshi and his fluffy friends, Gaston, Ebba and Miki, need your help. Players assume control of Hoshi's 'blow-some' powers and help him show off his 'keepy-uppy' skills in a series of challenges and games, such as bouncing fruit into the hungry mouth of the Jigoka monster in Fruit Slam Dunk; saving flowers from swarms of aphids in Fluffy Mayhem; and smashing marching boulders to pieces in Brick Invaders. A true test of timing, hand/eye coordination and nerve, Bliss Island's manic gameplay might have fellow commuters looking at you in a funny way, but they don't realise how much fun they're missing out on!

More of a bonus game than a full game

The opening to this game sets up very nicely the story and is very jolly. Each level involves you a blue blob with a big nose who has to do different tasks on each level. These are all quite fun but not as many as you'd expect and there is the 'just need to get to the next level to see what I'm doing' factor but in the end the games are fairly simple and more the kind of thing I'd expect to unlock as a bonus in a full game or play on a pc web game site. A fun experience but tad lacking in the variety.
