By Matt Coombe from London, England , 22 Dec 2007[Highly rated reviewer]
COD3 - the last game of the WW2 part of the call of duty series. The best ww2 series in my opinion. After completeing both tittles prior to this i was expecting something much better in better graphics on a next gen console..I was wrong. This game was so much better than i could have thought possible that as soon as i completed it - i fired it up for another go!
Best WW2 game ever!- Was this review helpful to you?

Gimmicky
By MisterChef (1 review) from Nottingham , 27 Feb 2008Treyarch's effort at putting out the now apparently yearly Call of Duty title is a mixed bag. Graphically the game is OK. It does nothing special and occasionally suffers from a bit of slow down and jerkiness. The gameplay is largely similar to the others in the series with some sections being a lot of fun and others being infuriating.
The attempt to utilise Sixaxis also suffers from this, while at some points the use of Sixaxis is intuitive there are others where the action shown in the diagram doesn't seem to produce the correct result, so it's only by trial and error that you get through a section.
The story is decent, well, better than previous Call of Duty titles where story was almost non-existent. Rather than jumping around the various theatres of WW2, Call of duty 3 focuses on the actions of US, British, Canadian and Polish soldiers during the Normandy breakout. While this means that the levels tend to be fairly similar looking French villages the level progression is good, with some decent set pieces. One downside is that the cutscenes get boring quite quickly if you replay the game on a higher difficulty level and they are totally unskippable.
In summary, the game is decent enough. It has it's shortcomings and as it is quite short it's probably best to give it a rent first.- Was this review helpful to you?
