Ultimately, the story is only a backdrop for the innovative gameplay. Two modes of playing exist, one using the standard Xbox 360 controller, the one using the Kinect. Both versions you are equipped with the same arsenal of weapons: a tracking missle launcher capable of destroy viral incursions with devastating accuracy, a purple shooter used to eliminate enemy projectiles and similarly colored enemies who are especially vulnerable to rapid fire, and a Euphoria attack, which is essentially a screen-clearing bomb attack.

Its a game any gamer must experience!

  • As charm, but it's no Rez!

Having been a fan of the Playstation 2 classic Rez, I went into Child of Eden expecting much. Playing on the Xbox 360 without Kinect, I knew to a degree what to expect. After all this is the spiritual successor to Rez.

Unfortunately there's not an whole lot to tell. These sensual games are certainly suited for multiple play through and Child of Eden won't take you long to complete (three hours at most) but the intention is for you to replay the five or so stages for high scores and glory. But the game forces you to play through each stage multiple times to simply unlock the next section that you grow tired rather quickly. This is something Rez never did from my memories, and feels as if it's in there to lengthen this already short experience.

That said, Child of Eden as it's moments. Visually a delight and will leave you with goosebumps upon your first play through. It's just that that magic starts to feel old once you play through a stage for the fourth time. Control wise it's a simple affair, you have a rapid shot and a lock on target system which you use to kill all those splendid looking creatures scattered around. If you have Kinect you can even use that to control things, and I'm sure that does add another level of depth to the experience. But the overall package left me feeling flat and disappointed.

In reality Child of Eden should have been download only, then maybe I and many others would expect less. But due to it's actual retail release you can't help but feel as if it's been padded out to lengthen the games experience.

Really mellow, stress free, It is essentially just an acid trip in computer game format. Better to play with friends and not on your own. Just in case you have a seizure whilst playing it.

Didn't like this game at all. The lights gave me a headache the music went right through me and it was just boring.

I guess some people like that sort of thing though?! Right?

i can't beleive this was released as a full price retail game, it looks and plays like a game you could pick up of xbox live for under £, i found the gameplay repetitive and boring, it's also a waste of what the 360 is capable of, i hate to see game on a next get console that would look exactly the same on my old sega master system...
