Pretty Good.

Ah, Red Alert, the first game I got for my first PC almost a decade ago, at the time you were awesome and I could play for hours on end.
And its still the same today, with stunning visuals and well crafted fmv cutscenes you will soon find yourself immersed in this excellent game.
Graphics: 6/10: bright and colorful, water effects are great and the landscape really sets the scene, but one thing that lets it down is the Civilian buildings, the damage is just too unrealistic, fair enough it looks ok, but how can a 10-story-high building stay standing when the bottom right-hand corner is missing.
Gameplay: 8/10: spot on for fans of the series and you can easily get hooked; even wasting afternoons just playing skirmishes for kicks and giggles.
Story: 9/10: in a world where the soviets have gone back in time to kill Einstein, three factions battle it out for domination of the majour cities. the sometimes cheesy FMV cutscenes that feature many scantily clad women really add to the atmosphere and can be taken a little more seriously than 3d avatars.
Controls: 9/10: the command wheel is really simple to use and selecting multiple units is easy, selecting single units and specific units is a bit of a challenge, but it wont prevent you from having a good time.
Overall: 7/10: its a good game for around a week, not good enough for a buy, but defiantly worth a rent, after a while it gets a little boring.- Was this review helpful to you?

(12)Very disappointing!
By Rater2012 (1 review) , 11 Jan 2012I had high hopes for this title being an avid fan of the pc series and i rented this title only to be bitterly disappointed. This is a title that should be left to the pc as it simply doesn't work on the console format. The graphics are poor along with the dismal acting in the video scenes, the game really lacks any story and depth unlike the pc versions which i found gripping and entertaining. A huge let down is the controls, it does get very frustrating and somewhat unplayable and the menus were not the easiest to navigate. The gameplay feels like a bit of a congested mess mainly down to the controls but i really cant pick out any real positive in this title. Overall this title should be left to the pc format and left well alone on the console.- Was this review helpful to you?

Good Game - Poor Interface
By a customer from Bradford , 30 Jul 2009I really enjoyed playing this game but returned it early purely because of the awful interface. Even that's not all bad by any means it just that I have a moderately sized SDTV and can't read the damned text. It would be so easy to have made text clearer (e.g. by using the whole width of the screen instead of the the bottom middle 9th of the screen) for everyone or to have included an option for a bolder interface.
I'll rent this again when I get a new TV I think.- Was this review helpful to you?
