This game is alright - It has good achievments and gameplay but this game does have its faults which are very fustrating and repetitive. For starters you would believe that Crash would be the best and can easily handle anything but you are wrong to think that on this new version of Crash because near to every monster can wipe the floor with Crash due to them having such good powers and abilities, then there is the controls which are painfully bad and hard to master, the camera angles are usually bad and hard to see what you are doing. There are 20 levels which are challenging and the bosses on this game are amazing. An OK game but rent not buy.

i didnt enjoy this game at all i maybe young but i remember the original crash bandicoot it was the first game i played but this game takes half the games that made crash good and threw them out the window after the wrath of cortex i think it lost its touch i mean they changed it from going from level to level collecting crystal and gems breaking boxes and a bit of side scrolling to a game that has a bit of free roaming which i personally dont like. A couple of things that make this game different is the fighting and other mechanics like crash fighting and having to level up to get the spin attack which he's known for over 10 years and theres no gems or crystal or one of the things that added replayabiity , the boxes. overall activision and sierra need to get there minds straight if they wanna be able to hold up to the crash we hold dearly in our hearts

  • Crash's distinct style is pretty much non-existant in this game and makes it a generic hack-and-slash

Crash Bandicoot was a brilliant platforming series and had a very distinctive style. In a Crash Bandicoot game, you expect lots of crates to smash, secret gems and lots of Wumpa fruit to collect, and lots enemies to kills by spin attacks or a well-timed jump. All this is virtually non existent in this game which is strange given that the DS version was close to the usual Crash formula. In this version, the levels are very linear and there are no secret areas and the stripped-down, simplistic nature means that it's quite hard to call it a platforming game; it's more of a hack and slash game. The combat mechanic sees Crash taking on a small mutant until he stuns it, in which case he can jump on it and take control in a concept known as 'jacking'. Once the mutant is jacked, he can use this to attack and take on stronger mutants and work his way up the hierarchy. Usually the game helps you out by only spawning weaker monsters, and as soon as you jack one; stronger ones appear. Also, once you engage a mutant in combat, the other ones tend to back off which is necessary given that the mutants can usually take Crash's health down rapidly. However, they don't always back off which means throughout the game, you will suffer cheap deaths time and time again. Annoyingly, when you run out of lives, you have to restart the level with only 3. Extra lives can be earned by collecting mojo which also unlocks stronger combo moves and a larger health bar. On the DS version, you could choose what perk to upgrade, but you do not have a choice on this version. There are 20 levels in total and I found that the game didn't capture my attention enough to do more than 3 levels without a break, and the game was completed within 5 days. On a positive note, the game has good humorous dialogue, although Crash fails to show even a hint of intelligence. If the game was more similar to the DS version, you would have been in for a treat, but the game feels like a waste of potential and was a large disappointment

  • Great games for the kids poor game for the fans

The people who grew up with the crash bandicoot games on the original playstation knew the original crash in his prime. However crash has changed and now his games are rather luckluster. Good game for the kids poor entry in the dead crash bandicoot francise.

I agree it can be difficult in places a bit frustrating and not sure what you do at the end, would you go and try the harder ones I doubt it as you do get a bit bored of the same thing, the only thing that keeps me on the games are Crash himself, he is so adorably cute and he looks really good animated in this one :) usually he looks square and sharp around the edges in his earlier games :) I have to say graphics ten times better than any of the PS2, but that's personal choice.I think unless you have a great memory you might struggle with each part or I did I could never remember what you were supposed to gain to get a gold Icon lol. I wouldn't buy it either rent is just as good because after one play it wouldn't be worth it sadly, unlike his PS2 adventures I can play them over and over :)
