    [Highly rated reviewer]

With the release of Final Fantasy VII: Crisis Core, the prequel to the original Final Fantasy VII released on PS1, the epic tale continues, or rather - begins - with the key events and original story that leads up to where FFVII begins.

Final Fantasy VII: Crisis Core focuses on the life of Zack Fair, an elite member of Shinra's SOLDIER, and his relationships with characters such as Sephiroth, Aeris (Aerith) and others previously met when you play as Cloud in the original FFVII on the PS1.

I consider Final Fantasy VII: Crisis Core to be a combination of FFXII and the original FFVII as combat is no longer turn based as it was in the original FFVII game. Combat is similar to Final Fantasy XII and introduces a unique 'Digital Mind Wave' system which is not unlike a fruit machine with a rolling display that gives bonuses when pictures match up. This is also how limit breaks are performed and you gain a level when the Digital Mind Wave displays 7 7 7.

The in-game graphics, cut-scenes and music is all perfectly executed and the game is highly recommended to fans of the Final Fantasy series in general (more specifically Final Fantasy VII) and those who have enjoined any game published by Square Enix. Final Fantasy VII: Crisis Core is simply a beautiful game.

To get the most out of the Final Fantasy VII story you can play the games in two different sequences. If you are yet to play the original Final Fantasy VII game for the PS1, you can start there like the rest of the world did and then play Final Fantasy VII: Crisis Core. Alternatively you can play through the story in order starting with FFVII: Crisis Core and then FFVII for the PS1. Lastly - you should watch Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children to complete the epic trilogy.

Warning: Once you start to play you will not want to stop!

Its an okay game, but somehow square enix just doesn't get it any more, all those amazing square soft FF each one with awesome gameplay and story, this is no comparison but I guess the story is pretty good and some aspects of the game are pretty fun although it is mostly based on luck which takes a lot of fun out of it, why make leveling up a chance of luck it just don't make any sense

  • The best example of what psp can do

Final fantasy VII is my favorite game of all time, and now with Crisis core the compilation of the series (with Dirge of cerberus and advent children), it is complete.

Breathtaking cutscenes in CG and the game engine, the story of the unsung hero Zack is finally reveiled.

Set before the original game, Zack the soldier of second class is trying to make a name for himself while being taught by his mentor Angeal (and looking up at the hero sephiroth).

However not all is as it seems when his mentor goes missing during a mission searching for an ex-soldier named Genesis.

The battle system works in real time using the analogue stick for free running, and the shoulder buttons for selecting the current magic/attack or item.

It works perfectly and you must use strategy to defeat nearly all the foes you encounter.

Detail in the game is extremely good for PSP, and the story and voice acting is second to none!

This is a game for anyone with a psp who likes a good story and a fight, and fans of the series shouldnt need to be told to get this!

    An unquestionable classic

i played final fantasy 7 when i was young and loved it, i have also played other games from final fantasy 7 series and loved them, such as the dirge of cerberus, even loved the movie advent children. but this game was mind numbingly boring, played it for about 6 hours and cudnt stand it anymore, apart from seeing characters cloud and sephiroth this game has no redeming features
