If you loved Bayonetta, you probably won't like this

I played Devil May Cry 4 after I had played Bayonetta, which turned out to be a very big mistake. The two games are very similar -- both based around stylish, over-the-top action and feature nicely-designed characters and enemies. Both games also feature ridiculous cut scenes, however, while Bayonetta managed to make the in-game action feel as intense as the cinematics -- with the game's set-pieces and Bayonetta's array of special moves -- DMC4 promised so much with its scripted fight scenes, but failed to deliver a sufficiently representative gaming experience. In fact, Devil May Cry 4 compared so badly to Bayonetta that I couldn't stand to play it all the way through -- a terrible shame.
Perhaps I was a bit impatient with the game, and judged it too harshly. If only I'd played Devil May Cry 4 first -- then I would have enjoyed both it and Bayonetta.
