  • VIP Code makes this a 2 star game!

Dirt 3 is a great racing game - would have been 5 stars if it wasn't for the VIP code. No code means no online play, not even a trial. Also a number of the offline cars are not avaialble if you don't have a code - which is a disgrace. Very dissapointed in codemeasters going down the VIP route - didn't think they would, maybee they want to model their greed on EA.

    Shame on you codemasters!

  • Boring and Repetitive

THIS REVIEW CONTAINS SPOILERS Show review anywayHide

Very boring you will race in every location in every car within 30mins of starting the game the online pass feature really ruins the game especially since they lock cars unless you have it.

As for the game like i said very boring you just don't feel integrated there's no point in rep you just unlock liveries as you go along you get sick of same tracks time and time again and the worst annoyance is Gymkhana's there not hard but they should not be part of your dirt tour at best a mini-game or loading screen game as for the dirt tour itself there's no point also the X-games are boring you will have raced in every track before the only difference is your annoying voice over keeps saying you'll win it which once again is a unsatisfying task it feels pointless there's no character connection you just couldn't care less about this game it's like playing a racing game in single player (not career) you just don't care at all.

defo worth a rent, would have been a five star but coz u cant do any online without a pass, witch costs £7:99 only gets a 3 star. briliant game and looks so realistic with good gameplay, but online pass lets it down as u dont even get a 1hr trial so i cant comment on the online side, sorry ppl

  • miles from dirt 2

    Rated - 1.5 stars

i got this title thinking it will be a good rally game, no its more like an arcade game, miles away from dirt 2 which i really liked, just cant get decent rally games anymore, days of coling mcray 2. 0 are long gone,

no feel to the steering what so ever, very difficult to get into the game due to no championship mode only the campaign which is race after race and very boring,

vip codes mean you also go without alot of the good cars and tracks, i have decided to try WRC 2011 instead,

  • Total let down for a Dirt 2 fan.

    Rated - 2.0 stars

As a huge fan of Dirt 2, I bought this as soon as it came out.

In my opinion Dirt 2 had awesome game play, brilliant controls, and an epic cast.

A new version with better graphics, new maps and the latest cars? Mildly excited to say the least.

    ---

    First put off: Activation code

To get all the cars and stages you must have a code, on principle I hate this sort of thing. I had a code so no problem but still, theres enough greed in this industry already.

    ---

    Second: Car selection

Now i liked being able to pick and choose cars, I also liked being able to progress through and get new cars to play with over time. In this latest addition to the series, every stage pretty much throws you a new car which you HAVE to use (more in a second), so you never get a favourite car or learn to drive one really well.

    ---

    Third: Stage selection

Some of the stages where interesting but Ken Blocks 'stunt' driving has made its way into the game, which you MUST complete to carry on and get more stages, in addition to doing dull and uninteresting challenges.

    ---

    Fourth: Points!?

So you need to get points to unlock the next stage, points are gained by being first, second, third, respectively, for completing dull unimaginative challenges (drift so far, attain X max speed) and to top it off, you get points depending on what car you use. I found unless you want to spend ages doing each boring challenge AND finishing first in every stage, you have to select the most recent addition to your garage every time as this car 'gives' the most points just for using it. Winning is obviously the goal but additional filler content because the game is amazingly short just to progress to... I didn't get to the end, I got so bored I couldn't bring myself to finish it.

    In short: Just don't bother.
