One of the most frustrating experiences of my life...By Delmorpha (5 reviews) from Blackpool , 01 May 2008
[Highly rated reviewer]Cars isn't a game... its torture for the eyes and mind... its difficult, its extremely buggy and it also breaks the first law of Video Game Design in that unless you're an expert gamer, you HAVE to use cheat codes to win..
Before you bury this as inaccurate, allow me to state I am an avid gamer of 25 years and more importantly, am someone who actually works in the games industry as a programmer. Cars is most definately a broken experience.
Maybe I expected a little much from a 'Childrens Game' but why shouldn't I when it commands the same price as any other 360 title? Anyway.. before I lose track of whats important, i.e. a review, i'll ignore that fact and tell you about the game!
In fact, this game annoyed me so much I'm just going to list the points the game standards Cars breaks rather than say too much about the game itself.
* No in game overview map when the game is split into 3 zones is inexcusable.
* Collision detection with the in game world is random. The car will almost mountaineer up sheer faces in places yet in others, the car will bounce straight off a 10 degree incline like it just hit the inside of a French tunnel.
* The catch up logic on the NASCAR racing is criminal. I didn't actually lose a race throughout it (but bare in mind I work professionally in gaming) but I was only winning by fractions of a second, in one instance 0.03 seconds.
*Cut scenes are annoying and can't be skipped - if I had to hear Doc say 'looks like you lost them' one more time, the disc was going to get snapped.
*And finally, to all the people who claim this game is 'easy' I beg to ask did you turn on all the cheats _before_ attempting some of the games levels or did you just play through the game with things like the maximum boost and ultra speed on from the beginning? I'm betting the later...
Yes, I'm sure the game is very easy when your car can go three times the speed of everyone elses but having completed this game from scratch without, I can tell you it is most definately not a good game, and not an easy game either.

(1000GS) for those who want it.By UsTlexi (34 reviews) from York, England , 18 Oct 2011Firstly the game is easy for a 1000GS but I found there was too many problems while I was playing this game. The camera angle on the game sucks and I found it very annoying, and everything that was said in the game kept repeating and repeating; over and over again which I thought I was going to go mad. The other problem I found is that if you didn't save the game and you turned it off, you would have to start from the last checkpoint you had saved and that could be at the start of the game.
Cars speed towards another 1000GBy ScarletSpidey79 (15 reviews) from Kettering , 12 Jul 2011Easy and fun is a rare mix when it is a kids game but this Pixar classic seems to hold its on for a while anyway.
The races are simple but a few have a the teeth to provide at least a little resistance and keep an adult interested.
Again the main reason for me to play this game was its bounty of gamerscore 1000G in the bag
Just ok! (Easy 1000 Achievement)By Va1entine (8 reviews) from Stoke-on-Trent , 26 Oct 2010So, I just completed Cars with all 1000 achievements. Its not a good game but its not a bad game either. The game took me about 7 hours to complete in 3 sittings. The Only achievement which was quite difficult was collecting Lizzies postcards (just use an online guide or see YouTube). First of all make sure you use the following cheats everytime you play as they will seriously help you smash through the game alot quicker and make it super easy. Unlimited Boost VROOOOM Extra Speed IMSPEED On with the negative, and I'm writeing this because this game could have been so much better! Not much of the game is deadicated to the NASCAR racing. Which was a shame because this was ware the game really shined. If you want to turn round its ridiculously frustrating because you can't just turn round you have reverse, forword, turn, reverse arrrr, your know what I mean when you play the game. I can't understand why the game designers didn't implement a donut system like hold Y to spin on the spot or somthing along them lines, after all its a childrens game! The biggest problem with Cars is the fact that it doesn't have a proper Map. Cars is supposed to be a sandbox sim, meaning free roaming world (example:GTA). So its stupidly frustrating trying to figure out how to get from one area to the next or finding the next mission, especially as there are 3 zones. All in all, its an ok game, easy achievements, amusing cutscenes and the games not too long either. Perfect for a rental and Achievement junkies alike!
very enjoyableBy MeEeEeEeEeEeEeEeEeEeEe (41 reviews) from Middlewich , 08 Oct 2010both myself and 5 year old enjoyed playing thru this.
It makes a nice change from cod, gears ect to play something different and at a good 8 hours its a pritty fun game
Simple and easy 1000 pointsBy Craz2010 (2 reviews) from Kirton,Boston , 23 Sep 2010Would never recommened it as a buy is deffienatly a rental game only. Game play was a little repeative after about 20 mins lol.
But in all it was a nice little simple game. Would have been better if it had more of a nascar style to it only really had a couple of nascar tracks to race on..
