A great title for the fans

While being a massive final fantasy fan, I was very keen to play this game to be reunited with the gaming titans like Cloud Strife, and be able to pit them in battle against villans both new and old from games 1~12.
The battle system is slightly similar to Crisis core, although it is somewhat more basic.
you have one attack for draining an enemy's Defense, and one special harder hitting move for doing damage. You can also pursue the enemy with a knockback similar to the Dragonballz tenkaichi series, where you choose either light or hard hit in an attempt to guess your opponent's defense.
In addition, each hero or villan you play has an ultimate move which require different button presses depending on the game he/she is from. For example Cloud and sephiroth have a limit break gauge requiring button bashing to fill, but Tidus has one button press timed correctly for his blitz ball shot!
Every character has his own story and voice actors from the original games (where applicable), and all have cutscenes inbetween the boardgame style grid you must pass.
You can also make friends and share characters for battling offline via the mognet system.
All in all a great game for fans, but slightly upset by the fact that battles can last anything from 10 seconds to 10 minutes!
I also found the 2 attack types slightly basic, but still functionable.
A great game for those with little time for a pick up and play.- Was this review helpful to you?

(3)Failed to perform as a fighting game
By a customer from London , 22 Mar 2011Short and to the point review by a long devoted fan of the series.
This game failed to perform as a fighting game however it may please fans of the final fantasy game series as many of the heroes from the series star in it, in my opinion it is a beggar failure then Bouncer on the PS2, if you are a fan of the FF series then try the old ps1 fighting game by the name Ergize or something like that.
Bottom line Square Enix should stick to what there good at RPGs and leave the fighting genre to Namco/Capcom/SNK- Was this review helpful to you?
