Let me start by saying I really enjoyed this game It mixes RPG gameplay with quick fast hack slash and blast em up action To people expecting something as in depth as skyrim I wouldnt get your hopes up If you enjoy RPGs and fancy something a little less taxing then this game is definitely for you- Was this review helpful to you?

Great RPG with a not so great story
By a customer , 05 Oct 2012This is definitely a quality game and an excellent open world RPG. The fighting is the best I've ever seen in an RPG and it's more like Assassins Creed than Skyrim when fighting. The exploration is also excellent; you genuinely feel an achievement when reaching new areas and uncovering new regions. There are a few issues with the game but on the whole it's well worth a play through.
The quests, characters and storyline are on the whole pretty lame...the story seems inconsistent and it's difficult to follow what's going on, partly because the characters are so boring you forget who's who. In fact most of the time you don't even care what's going on or why you're doing something. Compared to the epic stories from Oblivion and Dragon Age, this is relatively poor.
This doesn't really matter though, because the exploration and combat are superb. You can't really fast travel anywhere but although this is often a bit annoying, it makes the world seem bigger than it is and makes the actual act of travelling a big part of the game; fighting your way to new areas takes planning, preparation, stealth, skill and often a couple of restarts. You have to plan which missions you're doing at which time to avoid too much travelling and this partly makes up for the quests themselves being so lame. The fact that you also only have one save is also initially a hindrance but it becomes clear why they did this; you have to plan more carefully and really think at times.
The enemies and monsters are excellent; well animated, aggressive, difficult at times and varied. The areas are varied and graphically pleasant but there aren't many towns and cities and those that there are are pretty lame.
It's almost completely the opposite kind of game to Dragon Age; whereas Dragon Age had an epic, well told story with great characters in it but a linear, non-open world environment with pretty boring fighting and exploring, Dragon's Dogma has a rubbish story and characters but great fighting and exploration in an open world.
It's certainly no Oblivion or Skyrim, but it is a great game and well worth a play through.- Was this review helpful to you?

Awesome Game Worth a go
By Mongoose005 (3 reviews) , 10 Sep 2012I really really enjoyed this game, after the first 3-4 hours of playing you get hooked and can forgive the subtle mistakes, Graphically its not the best game in the world and yes there is poor lip syncing, but it is deffinatly worth playing - i completed it and i am on my second way around the game - the massive monster fights are just so much fun and its a typical Jap-RPG with the weapons, exploring, monsters, leveling, armour - really good fun and worth a go. It plays like an Action-adventure RPG rather than a skyrim type, its more fast paced. I say give it a go rather than go on other peoples reviews of it - there honestly isnt anything in the game that i disliked.- Was this review helpful to you?
