Stunningly Fantastic RPG
By Terry McCann from Swansea , 18 Jan 2007[Highly rated reviewer]
Fans of the series will recognise the beautifully coherent style of the DQ game play. There has not been a console version of the Dragon Quest series since Dragon Quest 8 was released in Japan. This updated and reworked master piece is not only is this a brilliantly fun and long lasting game but the cell-shading art work formulated by Dragonball Artist Akira Toriyama in stunning. This game has lasting appeal and will leave new players to the series ask for more whilst reassuring fans that what they have waited for was worth it.- Was this review helpful to you?

(6)AWESOME!!
By modgirl69 from southsea , 31 Jan 2010knew nothing about this game when I first received it. Thought was a little boring to begin with but it wasnt long before I got sucked in completely. Almost forgot what the outside world looked like as I clocked up hour after hour of game play! This is definately one of the best games Ive played.... probably ever!- Was this review helpful to you?

Crushingly Addictive, Totally Awesome
By Geraint Jones from Oxford, England , 02 Nov 2006I have just finished this game. I have no idea what to do with my life now. I think I might actually see if I have any friends left who remember me. Friends who are not called Yangus or Angelo.
This game is astonishingly enjoyable. I don't usually go in for the RPG thing - I couldn't be bothered to finish various Final Fantasy iterations. This however sucked me in. Stonkingly good gameplay, vaguely involving story, complex but solvable puzzles, challenging (though extremely camp) monsters, Dragon Quest VIII has it all.
Loved it.- Was this review helpful to you?

My 9 year old loved it
By a customer from Fife , 24 Aug 2006He kept dying and having to go back to the beginning but wanted to buy the game after renting it. Great animation and not gorey despite having to kill things to progress.- Was this review helpful to you?

Very Pleasantly Suprised
By Oli Shard from Newbury , 02 Jun 2006Being a huge final fantasy fan I always take other RPG's with a pinch of salt even if they are created by the same company (in this case square enix) as they never seem to live up to the same quality.
This has drastically changed my opinion. Although not quite getting to the same dizzy heights as FFX (the best RPG ever made, in my opinion) this game certainly gives all the other FF games in the series a run for their money.
Stunning graphics and rousing music are order of the day and to say the game is massive is an understatement. I am just over half way through and have reached the 36 hour mark.
Loads of mini-games, boss battles, levelling up, mastering weapons / skills and a new feature the alchemy pot where you can mix a vast array of items to get much more powerful weapons and armour.
If you want something to keep you out of trouble till the next FF game comes out (at this rate could be next century) then this game will do very nicely indeed. Just be prepared to chuck any social commitments out of the window for the next few months.- Was this review helpful to you?
