The ULTIMATE Dynasty Warriors Game
By Stubacca83 (1 review) from Livingston , 22 Apr 2011[Highly rated reviewer]
If youve never liked Dynasty Warriors then stop reading. If you have, but felt the recent titles were a bit poor then rest assured that Dynasty Warriors 7 is the best iteration of the series to date.
Forget the dodgy review for the game at IGN. This game is great. You could argue that the game is dumb and repetitive but peer beyond this and youll find a truly next-gen Dynasty Warriors game.
Firstly, the new game focuses far more on the history of the Three Kingdoms (Wu, Wei and Shu) and introduces us to a fourth kingdom, Jin. If youre new to the series, Shu are the nice guys, Wu are the fairies, and Wei are the total c***s. Jin is the dynasty that effectively ended the Three Kingdoms era.
The gameplay is basic, you just mash square and triangle, making it easy to pick up for the first time. But Dynasty Warriors 7 also introduces the ability to wield two weapons and unleash powerful EX and elemental attacks.
The emphasis on story means that each campaign lets you play through different characters of that kingdom as their story unfolds. This also helps keep the actual events in order, letting you experience things never seen before like the death of principle characters such as Cao Cao, Sun Jian and Liu Bei.
Theres also a hefty conquest mode that allows you to develop your characters as well as unlocking new characters, weapons and guardian animals. So you can take a character that you wouldnt play as in the campaigns, such as Lu Bu, and unlock his weapon and make him ride into battle on a bear or with a tiger at his side. Yes, its pretty bloody cool.
Theres far more to the game than I care to cover in a review.
In conclusion, I would say go rent this game. Its brilliantly crazy, epic fun.- Was this review helpful to you?

My first look at the Dynasty Warriors franchise and I was dissapointed
By a customer , 21 Dec 2012I've never played Dynasty Warriors before and now I never will again. After loading up the disk and being treated to a rather awesome CGI cutscene before the title screen I was pumped to think 'This is the game? Sick!'. However as I jumped into the training it became very clear what sort of game it was. Very bland combat, though better than Skyrim's. The AI was awful, which made the higher difficulties a chore rather than a challenge. Though, there were very few bugs I encountered, and the arenas were pretty. But it became grating when the fifth guy repeated the same line as one of the first enemies did. The same music loops over in battle, with very little to break it up. The story is weak and uninspired.- Was this review helpful to you?

Improvement on the previous games....Except the dialogue.
By johnnyboy503 (8 reviews) , 11 Jul 2012I enjoyed playing this game. The graphics, moves and story have improved alot and kept me entertained, The only gripe I have with the game is that the dialogue in battles can get repetitive and at times quite cheesy.- Was this review helpful to you?

Prefer older titles
By Krull82 (22 reviews) , 12 Mar 2012This is a pretty good DW, but there isnt much in the way of hard battles to get the best weapons. I prefer the approach of having to go through chaos to win the big prize and not breeze through.- Was this review helpful to you?
