    [Highly rated reviewer]

You'd be forgiven if, if I showed you a screenshot of this game, for thinking this is actually an early PSone game. Graphically, the game looks extremely poor with basic models, textures and none existant damage (wings will fall off with enough crashing), frequently reminding me of the Grand Prix series Microprose used to make on PC before Grand Master Ecclestone decided he'd get a few more coopers from making the license exclusive to one developer. However, for this lack of graphical quality, the game runs beautifully at a solid 60fps (for the non-techies, it runs perfectly smoothly). The other major thumbs up for F1 2009 is that it plays and feels near enough perfect. The game feels fast and urgent and is frequently encouraging you to push that braking point just that bit further in order to knock a few tenths off your time.

Feature wise the game's a bit duff though, with a single race, grand prix weekend, championship and career mode (which is really the same as the championship mode, but with the ability to make your own driver), along with a 2 player split screen mode for single races and championships.

So, good start gameplay wise for Codemaster's first F1 game, but it's really worth waiting for F1 2010 to come out for 360 and PS3, which should be more bearable to look at, and hopefully the AI won't run into each other as often, or go half speed down straights

People complaining about the graphics had it way too good or are spoiled by HD definitions. I use my Wii through Component and this game looks fantastic. In a game like this, the most important factor is speed, and this thing is very, very smooth. Someone compared it to F1GP for the PC, the game from back in teh 90s, and I have to agree, and this is a good point.

Much better than a similar game that was released for the Dreamcast in 2002. If you like car racing and specially F1, this game will please you.

An ok game.Graphics aren't to good.I was driving and suddenly it gave me a drive through penalty but most of the time it don't happen. When I put it on the hardest level, it's not hard! They never try to over take you as they only take the racing line unless they're over taking another computer. The good thing is it's got the same teams, drivers and tracks.Could be better but it's not to bad!

  • F1 2009 (for Wii)

I tried to play this but found that waving a Wii remote in the air to control the world's most powerful cars was massively inaccurate. (And I don't believe the steering wheel adapter would make any difference!) I have used a table mounted steering wheel on a friends console and the experience was worlds apart. Personally, considering that the wii is all about the user interaction experience, I would say driving games (Mario Cart aside) in general aren't as a rule that playable on the Wii. I would probably give this a miss and look at shoot em ups!

*Compared to the start of the 2010 season.

After the over hyping of the 2010 season has let many fans down this is a perfect game to remind you why we all became F1 fans in the 1st place.

This is a good race simulation game, very reminicesnt of the microprose series on the PC.

It can be enjoyed by players of all levels due to the driver aids incorporated in the game.

You can choose as many driver aids as you want to increase the challenge of the game, personally I like turning damage and penalties off and taking out my closet rivals schumacher style.

But if your in the mood for serious racing you have the ability to fine tune your cars setup to the smallest detail so you can squeeze every last thousandth of a second out of your car.

The only downside of the game is that your wheel isn't fixed to anything, I'm hoping someone will make a pedal/steering wheel combo for the controller to fit into. Something similar to the pryamat gaming chair would be ideal for this game.
