Gears Of War

Gears of War is a brilliant release by Epic Games, and kick-started the thus-far trilogy with a bang. Gears of War boasts a campaign comparatively longer than other shooters' campaigns, and allows for the scarce feature of complete co-operative gameplay. The backstory / lore to Gears of War is intriguing, and the imaginative gamer cannot help but think 'who is the woman narrating the locust?' and 'why was Marcus imprisoned?' amongst other questions.

There is a considerable array of weaponry in the game; not quite as large as those featured in Call of Duty, but sizeable enough not to provoke quick boredom.

The characters on the game are well-written, too - and I find that their personalities blend together quite nicely; Cole's excitable ways, Baird's smart-mouth comments, Dom's friendly guidance and Marcus' war-hero persona have some memorable clashes in this game.

I've not played too much in respect to multiplayer, but I have previously owned this game and can say that this too provides much fun and earns the game its replay value. There's no real ranking system on the game (unlike Gears of War 2 & 3) and many of the players are now seasoned veterans - interpret that as good news or bad news.

All in all, this game is a worthy rental and will have you wanting to play the subsequent Epic releases; Gears of War 2 and 3.

Had a Ps3 from 2007-2011...

BIG MISTAKE.

Only in this past year have I experienced the community of Xbox as well as Halo and now Gears of War.

Gears of War has better graphics than a lot of today's games (due to the increase in money motivated companies).

The gameplay is a tad annoying, but thats because over the past 5 years games have become alot smoother (just try playing a ps2 fps.) So this game in terms of its time has really good gameplay and is a decent introduction to the series.

Storyline, fairly decent, meant to be appreciated over all three games. Main character can wear on you a little though.

Rent or buy? Rent...all three then decide for yourself :) DO not buy on Xbox Marketplace. Still same price as it was 3 years ago :O

Gears of war is one of the best Tactical shooters, The Campaign is Okay, Nothing amazing. What really keeps me hooked on this game is the Online Multiplayer its really fun, Especially when playing with friends, the ammount of ways you can get kills and the way you can annoy people on the game is hilarous.

When i am playing this game i lose focus on time and what seems like 1 hour can be 3 or 4 its that good guys. Ranked Match is the best mode, you get serous players who's life revolves around the game and then when they die you get pure entertainment of an angry gamer shouting down the mic. Its the best game ive played on the 360,If you like this game then you will hate number 2 a lot. Also i hope epic games listen to their fans and make the gameplay more like number 1 than the Crap that they call a sequal be worth playing. By the way be prepared to listen to Emo Dom talking about his missing hooker Maaaaarrrriiiaaaaaaaaaaa!!!!!!

brain dead script one trick pony gameplay and all the better for it brutal and stunning this game is one of the best at what it does.
