God of War 3

This game is fantastic, I feel as though everything about the game is just brilliant - Storyline, gameplay, etc. I would highly recommend it! Also don't take on board any bad reviews, see for yourself!

Never played any of the others but this really is an epic game. Gameplay is virtually identical to Devil May Cry (with the addition of QTE) but still extremely fun. The story and mythology is what really makes this one stand out. 'I WILL HAVE MY REVENGE' - Yes, yes you will Kratos.

This review is long overdue, I bought this game on release, I suppose this would mainly be a recommendation to those who haven't played this yet. If you haven't you need to change that fact.

This game is a technical masterpiece, even now 3 years after it's original release it still sets a benchmark very few games have met in terms of graphics, gameplay, soundtrack, combat, story, set pieces, boss fights, detail (detail and graphics are 2 different things), voice acting, set pieces, soundtrack, graphics, boss fights, gameplay, detail, story, combat and voice acting.

Notice I mentioned everything twice, because evrything about this game deserves praise nobody can possibly give it, but I can try.

Let's start with the soundtrack, an incredible opening overture before you even hit the menu, then an incredible opening piece as you begin to hear Zeus addressing his fellow gods, and it just gets better and better as the game goes along, with every piece of music suiting every environment, battle and boss fight perfectly.

Now graphics, incredible in a word. The graphical detail on Kratos alone is enough to make you wonder why this game hasn't been re-released in 3D, the entire game is beautiful and so close to reality that you'll also wonder how the hell the PS3 handles it.

Gameplay, great puzzles that are fun and quite easy, not real brain teasers but they are still enjoyable to complete, there are sections where you'll actually fly using the wax wings ripped from Icharus' back, they're scripted so it's only temporary, but it still looks and feels awesome and good platforming.

Now the combat. Very fun and enjoyable, fights aginst standard enemies are visceral and fun and killing them is even better when you rip out their organs, boss fights are amazingly done, when you fight a god or a titan, it actually feels like you're fighting a god or a titan, and not a predictable boss with crappy AI and easy to avoid attacks, if you wanna dodge an attack you have to be on the ball, brilliantly gruesome kills against everything, gods, titans and standard enemies.

The story feels amazing, as you get further and further in you begin to feel the rage that Kratos has inside him, and want to see the gods die just as much as him, every fight, every obstacle, every character you speak to make you want Zeus to die more and more and when you finally get to the battle it's even more epic than you expect.

Now my favourite part, the set pieces, the scale of this game is gigantic, the game opens with Kratos on the back of a titan, Gaia, as she climbs Olympus you'll see titans all around you, some get pulled off the mountian by Poseidon using his godly power, your first major battle on Gaia, is against one of Poseidon's minions,after that you'll get separated from Gaia and end up on the side of the mountain, as you run up it you'll see titans climb right past you or get knocked further down the mountain as you watch from above, after you reuinte with Gaia you'll face Poseidon himself in his massive battle form, after the battle you rejoin Gaia, as you ascend Olympus on Gaia's hand you'll arrive at the summit to confront Zeus. Then later you'll be on Olympus and in the back ground you'll see a totan fighting Helios, after you lend some assistance the titan climbs right over you and you see his massive foot fly over your head and offscreen, the set piecse are just dazzling.

Already covered boss fights in combat, so detail, when you fight enemies you can literally rip them apart, as the blood spatters everywhere and organs burst out of them it looks incredible and exceedingly realistic.

And finally voice acting, the cast is just incredible, brilliantly scripted and spoken by all involved. The entire game world just feels like an alternate dimension, rather than a form of fictitios electronic entertainment.

So in summary, you know what? Don't rent this game, go out and buy it you tight git, it was released three years ago, the price you can get it for today is criminal compared to the amount you'd expect to pay for this sort of quality, what are you waiting for? I hope half of you left halfawy through this review with some cash in your pocket to buy it.

Spot on from start to finish, the ending was a let down but overall great game. Play it! you will love it

Dont think its as good as the previous ones. Doesnt seem as long either. The graphics are better, but they aint amazing but overall its defiantly worth a rent :)
