God of War Collection does pretty much what it says on the tin - brings together the first two games in the series with a hefty dollop of next-gen gloss lovingly rubbed all over it. First up: Kratos's very first outing. God of War does, it?s fair to say, take a fair bit of license when it comes to its depiction of ancient Greece, but looks very interesting nonetheless. Players step into the sandals of Kratos, an ex-soldier of Sparta who is charged with stopping the rogue eponymous God of War Ares from destroying the city of Athens. Tortured by a murky past, Kratos is a formidable kind of chap, with two axe-like ?Blades of Chaos? on chains grafted to his arms. As dangerous as they look, the blades won?t be enough to defeat this immortal god. For that you?ll need the box of Pandora, a super-weapon that is feared by all the gods of Olympus. What follows is a quest across several lavishly detailed environments, fighting all manner of monsters lifted from the pages of ancient myth ? the nine headed hydra is merely the first of these that you will meet, and minotaurs, harpies and cyclops follow. Then, on to the sequel. The development team started with the God of War game mechanic already in place, leaving more time to include features that they just didn't have time for in the first. We saw an expanded collection of combat moves, meaning fans were able to take their favorite combos from the first game and expand on them with new moves and element-based magic. There was also an expansion of the cast, with the return of old favourites such as Cyclops and Cerebus, as well as new enemies and appearances from various ancient Greek Gods and heroes who will grant new weapons and abilities. One example of these are the Icarus wings, granting flight and getting things airborne (although bearing in mind this is the little alabaster guy who piddles in your rich aunty's fountain, Sony might be running the risk of camping up their scarred and scary anti-hero). Throw in an increased number of puzzles intricately woven into the gameplay and more treacherous terrain on which to test your skills, and this is a pearl of a game.

Playing these games is like trying a new drug. The first ten minutes sends you into a 'euphoria' like state, ever expecting more. Having taken Latin somewhat we studied ancient greece and rome, greek mythology, etc - what a great idea! Looking back now on these games, I can't believe that a great 'gladiator' or greek type game had not come out prior. Sure they made ok efforts, but nothing compared to Gods Of War. The gameplay is additive, music goes very well with the action, graphics will take your breath away, etc. Honestly if you are going to play God of War 3, STOP!! what you are doing, you have to try this collection, and enjoy and then play gods of war 3.

Great Collection! Loved every bit from start to finish of this game with brilliant story!! pretty challenging if you start on hard mode for first play through then again i love challenging games! must play!

1 & 2 tee you up nicely for GOW 3

Like most people I'd imagine, I played of God of War 3 initially (before they released 1 & 2 in HD) only to be blown away by it's graphical beauty and mystical storyline. So I was somewhat sceptical when I heard that the baseline stories 1 & 2 were being released.

However, my doubt were quickly put to bed and to say that they were enjoyable would be a understatement. The first GOW draws you in slowly, but it careful not to let you become board both graphically and conceptually. Then there's no. 2 and by this point you should be all familiar with GOW's control system, expecting the unexpected and generally taking you on a fantastic game play journey.

You'll be playing and *hopefully finishing each game in about 10hr overall playing time, so they're well worth a rent!

Pure excellence. I never played any of the God of war series before this but I definately see why they are so popular. Try this, and I DARE you not to like it. Very good.

Mount Olympus of games.

If you love stories and love prince of persia, very similiar and worth a rent. I can see why it was named PS2 game top 10. The challenge of the Titans are much fun.

Best series of the year

Absolutely a great game.

Enjoyed playing this every minute of every day. The collectable trophies are really great and even caused me to play each game twice but it was well worth it.

If you cant decide believe me its a keeper!!!!
