(11)Online Ghost Town
By NeilSBUK (87 reviews) from Epsom , 08 Oct 2009[Highly rated reviewer]
If you are hoping to play this online, then it is possible, but expect to have long waits, or to play without a full band set up. I had to play guitar and sing just to get a full band going.
Gameplay is pretty much standard in guitar hero games so if you've played the others you will know what to expect here. I considered only a few of the songs to be memorable for their difficulty (on guitar). They were Assassin by Muse (due to fast strumming, only difficult if you aren't good at strumming up and down), Hot For Teacher, and B.Y.O.B.
Career mode is ok for one or two playthroughs, but to get all the achievements, you may have to play through 5 times. I thought this was a bit much, as I was tired of playing the same songs, which is one of guitar hero's weaknesses; the song selection. I find most of the songs just aren't that interesting.
I recommend as a rental, but now that everybody has moved on to GH5 I wouldn't buy this.- Was this review helpful to you?

By far the worse GH
By Dave from Scotland , 30 Sep 2009I have played all the GH and Rockband, and this one is by far the worse. Looks like they have just take the leftover songs and put it in a game to get some easy money. Can't believe that from some of the very good bands they have included, they have put those repetitive and boring songs. Not even bothered to finish the career mode.- Was this review helpful to you?

Yawn...
By a customer from Yorkshire , 20 Sep 2009If your looking for some hard-rockin guitar fun, look elsewhere. All the songs in this game are long slow repetative and just plain n simply boring, i was literally yawning through this, just wishing i could play a song that got my head knocking, but no. Very disapointing. Hope Guitar hero 5 gets back to its roots n starts rockin again.- Was this review helpful to you?

Bad Set list, Good Gameplay
By JaxxRated (5 reviews) from Oldham , 12 Aug 2009I felt all games of this kind (Rock Band and Guitar Hero) can easily be let down by a abundance of abysmal songs. This I can say had a truly terrible set list for me, and I like most things from The Beatles to Slayer! But I found this got on my music loving outlook and I hated most songs I played.
This was extremely poor following the mighty set list of it's predecessor Guitar Hero III: Legends Of Rock. I found myself playing through the shows to try and unlock Trapped Under Ice. But I gave up and just sent it back, it was too bad I even played some songs on mute so I didn't have to listen to them. The guitar battles were good but I preferred the old method rather then playing the entire battle. This game will appeal to a lot people but not me, there's way to much chick rock and country rock, its just heartbreaking. Also lots of stuff is very slow and long so its becomes more of a chore than fun. I prefer Rock Band as a series anyway, so I'd recommend that because of its amazingly large download list it has stuff for every taste.
Definitely rent first to give yourself a taste of the songs.- Was this review helpful to you?
