sorry....but, this game as a HITMAN game is nothing short of dire. It really is. Gone are everything that made the hitman games great.

Feel free to select NO this review doesn't help you if you love hitman and just cant stand to read a word against this poor imitation of a hitman game. However if you agree then please select YES so that anybody renting this title will know not to get their hopes up!

It's worth renting to play through out of curiosity or if you are new to the hitman games then you might love this because you dont know wht your missing and would be best served by also renting Blood Money or the older games to try, but, if you are a long time fan of hitman and the progression the games have made so far then you will be disappointed.

I purchased this game on release day and traded it in after forcing 6 mind numbing hours out of it because I refused to believe it wasn't going to get better. It didn't. There are a couple of levels with the old hitman feel to them but they are part of the segmented block of levels. My friend commented that he really likes this game, he hated all the 'waiting around for ages' with the other Hitman games. Which i thought was incredible because the open areas and multiple trial and error was half the fun! The other half was figuring out all the quirky kills and making a mockery of the AI as I walked around in disguise. Which by the way is gone....i'll elaborate later...

Unfortunately Hitman:absolution has taken on a very strange change and is like a dumbed down stealth game for the shooty and impatient generation, either that or the developers decided to use what I'd wager was actually a failed build for a Kane and Lynch 3. This game now plays like the best bits from Splinter cell: conviction and improves on the first kane and lynch game and does not work as a hitman game.

If this game was a Kane and Lynch 3, then score! Good not brilliant game but far improved from the others. If it was a new game altogether combining elements of other games then it would make a good rental. As a Himan game though DIRE!

If you don't sneak undetected then all bullet dodging hell beaks loose and you wind up running around in a massive shootout. However! why not just use a disguise?? Well - you can, but, from halfway across the map other 'guard types' will become suspicious of 47 dressed the same as them...even when wearing sunglasses and a hat (when 47 decides a hat or mask from the guards disguise is a good idea - cos sometimes he doesn't take those identity concealing items......hygiene reasons I suspect.) and shout things like 'HEY I THINK THAT GUY DATED MY SISTER' or 'HEY YOU DO I KNOW YOU'. This is very frustrating because you end up walking in a ridiculous spiraling pattern tying to avoid every 'PING' on your radar (because there's no map anymore...) followed by more shouts of someones sister or jail time. This might not have been so bad so much of a hindrance to the game if it wasn't for the game forcing you into areas - entire segmented areas - where there is only one guard type...so you can either be suspicious looking like.....47 or suspicious looking like a guard...so rubbish. I like bit of realism in a game but come on! seriously!!

The open areas are no longer open, the levels are segmented into move from point A to exit at point B with very little in between. The cut scenes are ridiculous, nonsensical and very poorly done. The missions like i said before are segmented and there not whole lot that can be done within them without raising alarm because of a variety of suspicious guards...that apparently all have sisters, have done time with you or think they know you because you are wearing the same uniform or jeans and a jumper...

Oh and the 'coup de grace' you can replay levels.....................but your not allowed to select your equipment YOU want before you replay them, so no more re-playability when bored and want to play through an earlier level with your super spesh upgraded guns just for the hell of it. If they could've left anything in the game to salvage it- it would've been that.

I like the game, but don't like the game at the same time, I've got to playing only half the game and had to decide to at least give it a rest. What I found most frustrating about it, was how the game deals with sneaking past people, it just wasn't realistic at all on the stealth aspects, being so close to characters and not being found out and occasionally being found out in such silly ways. There are a lot of good moments but, sometimes the game play kind of gets you so frustrated.

Well I've just completed this game. It wasn't bad, but I was expecting a lot more from it. I liked being able to throw knives at people's heads, garrote guards and so forth. But with an 18 certificate, I was expecting to be able to rape and molest people. The developer really needs to get its act together. When an adult buys a violent 18 certificate game, they want to be entertained. Physical violence and murder just isn't going to cut it in this liberal, progressive age we live in. The next installment should allow rape/molestation in order to really get into the skin of Hitman.

Very Cool game, once you get into its so hard to put down, theres so many options to how you want to play, stealth or guns blazing you will enjoy the creative way you can get to your targets(killing one of the scientist with flaming hair tonic!)

I put 6 hours into this game for it to freeze up and corrupt the save file forcing me to start over again. This game has been out since November and this problem still hasn't been addressed which is pretty poor on the developers behalf.

Otherwise its a pretty decent game and is worth a rent.
