right first off iff you liked acecombat or hawx this is way better. visuals are spot on with trees landscape and buildings well moddelled and no bluring as there is in the other games. very detailed. i wouldn't bother with arcade controls as it is too easy but step it up a notch and the planes are beasts, just flying in straight lines is hardwork. you need to be gentle and smooth or you will crash and burn. the missions are pretty good and with the harder controls are very challenging. AI is good although i have noticed the occasional slow down. if you are good enough to try sim controls you have only what a real ww2 piolot would have had ( eyes and instinct) with no hub and vicious handling but its a good challenge. online is the best out of the flight games available but i fear the difficulty may put off those not acustomed to lifelike physics. with that in mind this game maybe underated and not get the credit it deserves. try the demo on live or rent b4 you buy as it's hit or miss wether it'll be for you.- Was this review helpful to you?

By Xenophaige (1 review) , 15 Nov 2012IL-2 Sturmovik is an enjoyable game with a good variety of aircraft to fly. The aiming for bombs is really good and rockets can be a lot of fun if you feel like a bit of a muck about in a dog fight.
However, on arcade setting, I found the game-play repetitive and rather easy after the first five or so missions. But the jump to realistic, with the controls fixed as they are, makes the planes almost impossible to fly and you spend most of your time stopping the plane stalling rather than completing the mission. If there was a way to adjust the controls or parts of the difficulty (the bombers explode when you look at them in arcade) this would be an excellent game. Probably better on computer if you have a joystick.- Was this review helpful to you?

Best WW2 flight sim our there
By a customer , 02 Mar 2012This game is one that i'll be keeping in my collection. There is a decent campaign, though some of the levels are a bit too hard to beat and others seem to be over before you've tried. The game has different classes of simulation, so you can play an arcade style (most peoples level) or the more realistic classes where you have to really pilot the aircraft for real.
The missions can get very samey. But they are fun, and i don't really get that bored, though i accept it is repetitive.
Graphics are pretty good. Controls are easy to start and difficult to master on the higher levels. Can't comment on MP as i couldn't get into a game.
As you do complete the game, it opens up a huge number of new levels which are fun and a spin off from the campaign.
The only thing i hate about this game, is the voice acting. The actual acting for the british is good, but they used the same guy for the other languages, and it just sounds like someone very obviously (and poorly) trying to fake an accent.
Other than that, if you like WWII flight sims, you must give this one a rent. For me, it's the best out there, just ahead of Heroes Over Europe.- Was this review helpful to you?
