    [Highly rated reviewer]

There's no doubt that the Madden series are the benchmark for American Football games (lets face it, there isn't a great deal of competition out there), but does that mean that they are resting on their laurels, and getting complacent?

Well, to be honest, yeah, a little bit they are - but in fairness, they are pretty good laurels to be resting on. NFL '09 was a very solid game - not perfect, but easily the best NFL game out there. With NFL '10 there haven't been any great leaps forwards. Graphics? Slightly improved, but mostly the same as last year. Gameplay? They appear to have removed the rewind function, which can get annoying, but it's all in the pursuit of better realism. The running game is more useful in the game than before - it's easier for your offensive line to create holes, and easier to hit them with your RB.

Mostly the changes are cosmetic - polished graphics, a few new plays, and the half-time report is now quite entertaining to watch.

Overall, this is a solid game, with no real drawbacks, and if you are buying an NFL game, then this pretty much has to be the one to go for. Me on the other hand, I am now left with the difficult choice of whether to trade in my copy of '09 to get the new one...I'm not convinced there's enough difference to warrant it. Still, It's a great game, and another good improvement to the franchise.

The last time i played a madden game was 07 and was suprised to see how far they have come from then! 10 makes the game easy to understand. With the new play systems and the intense be a pro mode. Could have a few tweaks such as fatigue effecting speed of players etc, would make great gameplay.

Id not played a madden game for many years before choosing to rent this (At the time Superbowl was just around the corner) As its been such a long time since I played any NFL game it make it difficult to compair this to another game of its type.

I have noticed there seems to be a fairly large jump in difficulty from one skill to the next.. Or maybe im just not very good, Attacking in the game does seem very easy compaired to defence there also doesnt appear to be a massive dif between teams skills either so playing against the Colts and playing against the Rams feels the same where in real life they are world apart from a skill point of view

I found some of the managment things a little confusing but im sure with the manual these would make sense but without there isnt really any in game help so may want to hunt for a manual online perhaps

All in all I really enjoyed Madden if you like sports games there is no reason why you shouldnt like this (By that I mean the kind of game where there is no end its just match after match till the season is over then a new season starts much like many other sport games, Fifa, Pro Evo, NHL ect..)

    Looks - 3/5

    Gameplay - 4/5

Would I Buy It - No but only due to its never ending-ness ideal to rent
