A good effort...but beware...

If you are new to American football games then this is going to be the one to get.
Rather than sift through thousands of Offensive & Defensive schemes you can just hit 'A' and the game will select a play for you to carry out. You dont even have to do that because if you do not move the pad, the CPU takes over the player for you.
Its got enough interest to keep you there with Franchise mode and Superstar Modes along with Madden moments which recreate famous moments from last year. The graphics and sound are greatly improved from my last Madden (09) game. You can pick plays from the thousands on offer to create a playbook but i would still like to have seen a play designer ala PS2 Madden 05!
Here is the word of warning : EA Sports require you to enter a code contained in the manual to access free, xbox live content and games. You get 7 days free trial but without the code you must pay ten dollars to be able to play online.
Love film does not ship a manual - because if it did *I* would get the free online play and whoever rented it next would not!! D'oh!!- Was this review helpful to you?

Madden NFL 11
By JohnnyDrama (19 reviews) from Kingston upon Thames , 04 Mar 2011Hmmmmmmm !
I really cannot think of anything good to say about this game. It promises so much but in reality its just a poor game. The gameplay camera means your too far from the action which didn't make for an enjoyable time. The new control system didn't seem to work very well, but to be honest I had stopped caring and sent the game back after 2 plays. What annoyed me more was the lack of choices there were for creating a player. The developers may claim its the best Madden ever, but its not. Its worse than many of the others and unless you are willing to put a whole lot of time into this, you won't get the enjoyment that you want.- Was this review helpful to you?

Huge depth, great game
By a customer from Lancashire , 09 Jan 2011Two things you need is some knowledge of American Football and time to invest in the game. The Franchise mode is engrossing and will consume hours of your time if you let it.
The virtual trainer will take you through basic game moves and basic controls. What it won't do is explain play calling and the coaches role in the game. You are playing both the players on field and the Coach. And you need to get both right to be a consistent winner.
To start with it may seem like the computer is doing everything since the game allows you to 'play it' with the minimum of input by pressing the A button constantly. As you learn it though you'll take over more and more until you are calling plays, throwing or running the ball, setting up blocks etc.
As the review title says: Huge depth, great game.- Was this review helpful to you?

Very good!
By Welchy (5 reviews) from South East , 06 Jan 2011My favourite sport is basketball, but i do have a very small interest in NFL, and i do believe it is a good sport. So i thought i would give this game a rent, and see if i enjoyed it, and maybe improve my knowledge on the game.
Too keep this review short, i really enjoyed it, you need an online pass to play online, so you cant get the online services due to it being a rental copy, but the franchise mode is very good, and the game as a whole is just good fun.
Playing with friends on the sofa is good also, as long as everyone knows what they are doing, the controls are easy, and the gameflow mechanic makes it accessible to play for newcomers like me, but i managed to learn some good plays properly after a while.
To make a long story short, i definitly reccomend renting this game if you think it looks good, your interested in the sport or like seeing rough tackles. Very good game!- Was this review helpful to you?
