I played this game in advance from the demo (which is available from PSN & xbox live) and an import version my friend has bought from the U.S and all i can say is 'been there done that' as this has no new materal that will keep you going, if you have played the first mafia game and other titles such as the GTA series, Godfather etc then you will be no stranger to this sequel as the controls are pretty much the same and the gameplay is identical, the only thing that will make you want to play from start to finish is the story. From what i've seen so far i want to know what happens next, Hence the reason im only renting it out because when i'm finished i dont think i'll return to play it again as i prefer GTA4 as I feel it is more fun online & off but don't get me wrong its interesting to see what the olden days was like with an excellent sountrack & a very detailed city similar to the godfather game but this has unique weather conditions like snow that give it that extra feel. But in the end GTA4 is still the better game and that the developers have missed their time to shine. It is a fun game to play but it can get boaring quickly, which is why im giving it 7/10

Really suprised with this title the game starts with him being a young lad which was a lil boring but as the game went on it became better because of more things to do an explore I would say be patient with it as its a really good game and excited to see if they make a Mafia 3 game

Excellent game although is a bit on the short side. Ideal for a weekend or a rental. Not massivly different to a 1950's GTA.

Loved the vintage setting and would be looking forward to seeing where they go next. No GTA but a good game to play before GTA V.

Wrestled with myself the whole way through playing this stunning game whether to award it 4, 4. 5 or 5 stars.. It varied from chapter to chapter but the game continually impressed especially during the final 6 Chapters. Mafia II really picks up pace towards the end and has an epic final mission which made it impossible not to give it 5 stars. Some of the best voice acting I've heard, especially for Joe (Voiced by Bobby Costanzo). The storyline and cutscenes tie in brilliantly throughout the game, the enthralling dialogue really keeps you hooked and in wait for the next event. My game time came in at 15 hours which I thought was just right for this title, they don't drag it out. One of my only criticisms was that the beautiful scenery could have been a more extensive, the map felt small at times but that's only because some of the cars are so fun to drive you end up drag racing everywhere. Really loved the action play in this game, getting killed can be a common occurrence making gun battles challenging and realistic. I found the enemy A. I. improved vastly as you progressed, as like most of the game's features. I gave this title an extra star on the Shotgun alone, I kid you not. It and the Magnum have cracking sound effects and recoil, really fun to shoot wise-guys with! All in all a fantastic 2K Czech production, they really have a polished gem to be proud of here! 2K FTW!
