Best game story for years so far - action is on point -graphics on point and gameplay is on point - games like a movie! 10/10

  • Round about normal for Rockstar's standards

Max Payne 3 might not be Rockstar's best game with such titles as Grand Theft Auto 4, Red Dead Redemption and L. A Noire out there, but it is still one of the best third-person shooters going. It has the violence locked down with not too violent but not too weak either and it's 'bullet time' gameplay can really change a gun fight. If you are used to the simplistic shoot out techniques of Call of Duty, this will be a lovely, if challenging, change. The storyline was original which is another reason that this game is so good. That and, if you watch carefully, throughout the game, Max's beard keeps growing and growing, meaning that Rockstar have taken into acount the time difference between missions. This differs from other games. There is a healthy selection of weapons to choose from, making it fun to play over and over while using different weapons. The collectables can be challenging to find but there are plenty of them to keep you occupied, even when you have completed the story. The game is in a simple level format which is not as inviting as the free-roam elements of most of Rockstar's other games, which is a bit of a dissapointment for lovers of free-roaming games. But all in all, Max Payne 3 is a very good game. Not suprising for Rockstar Studios.

  • Great story line.

Excellent game, the story pulls you in right from the start like the other two Max Paynes. Leaving you thinking what's going to happen next. Only bad bit that I didn't like was when the story went back in the past there was constant blur and flash effects every 5 seconds or so, I think we could gather that he was in the past but the effects didn't need to be so excessive.

I know I'm probably being quite harsh here but it's not my fault that the game I played before this was Batman: Arkham City. I played Max Payne on the PC donkey's years ago and it was amazing, gripping story line and ahead of its time action sequences. This comes up short by a long way and never gets you pumped up or excited to play. It relies heavily on cut scenes but they are just so bad (quality wise) and boring, it's pretty much the majority of the game. Take for example cut scenes in Batman - they blow you away with detail, here it's just MEH. If you had the ability to skip through the cut scenes and not be forced to walk at a snails pace for certain missions I may have given this a higher rating. All in all, great for showing off to your parents that your diving off a building in slow motion spraying uzi-love everywhere, but even they get bored after the 10th justification of why you're still playing it...

Overall i found this to be a very good game, Story was great although not as good as the first couple but then it was never going to be, the game play is dealt with really nicely the amount of checkpoints are very helpful, the multi player is good but not great but then you wouldn't get this game for the multi player in my opinion. Overall it is a very fun game which manages to keep all the grungey griminess in from the first 2 and stay true to Max Payne games, i would definitely recommend

Its a lot of fun if you like mindlessly massacring enemies while flying through the air in slow motion which I do lol. The online i think is poor but its worth the rent at least just for the single player.
