If you like me played Mortal Kombat as a child and also loved comic book characters then perhaps you too were awaiting the release of this game. Top of my list was how these two completely different worlds would unite would Mortal Kombat still have that 'gore factor' we have all come to love and would the DC characters be able to to compete with cool super powers of their own! Well in both regards the game comes up with the goods!

The game looks great. The characters animate well, their attacks look powerful, and there's a consistency of design that helps make the bizarre crossover seem natural. There's an especially great detail to the game's presentation in the way that damage isn't just reflected in the energy bars across the top of the screen. As characters suffer attacks, their skin gets bruised and bloody, their costumes get torn, and by the end, if the loser put up a good fight, even the victor will look much worse for wear. Of the 14 arenas, most of them look pretty cool. There are a few Mortal Kombat arenas, but the majority of locales come from the DC side, or reflect a merger of the two universes. There's a devastated downtown Metropolis and a high-tech Batcave, among other noteworthy locations, and they're packed with details that will please fans of the characters.

Overall, the DC characters are a good fit with the MK gang and the game posses a satisfying fighting system with a goofy and enjoyable storyline. Great visual presentation and smooth online gameplay mean the fighting is always fun at its core. The fact that the gore is toned down or that there is little to aid new players to the mortal kombat genre does not detract from what is essentially a game made for fans with a fun fighting style that would please even non-fans of the genre! A definite worthy Rental and even a Buy for those that are true fans!

This was the worst game anyone could possibly get, the players had no good moves, the thing that I liked was playing online, but I hated everything else. Take my advice and don't rent it .

This game wasn't that bad, however could of done with more characters and better graphics. Still playable and worth the rent, Mortal Kombat 9 looks like it's going to be good.

When i first bought this game i thought it was going to be like any other fighting game. Well i was wrong.

It has a pretty awsome story mode that explains how the 2 worlds collide (Dc universe and mortal kombat). It is quite short but its better than nothin!

The graphics are pretty good and the gameplay is the same like the rest mortal kombats. But i still cnt do any fatalities :(

The idea of the game is excellent, Mortal Kombat characters take on comic book characters...

The graphics are fine and the game play is ok. My main beef with this game is the lack of characters... There are 10 Mortal Kombat characters and 10 Comic book characters (plus 2 unlockable characters). This to me isn't nearly enough. The old MK games have 20+ alone...

The other problem with the game is it (almost) feels like a MK game, however, the lack of different moves takes away a lot of the fun.

For 'beat-em-up' please read 'Tekken 5' not this. If you are a beat em up fan, you may appreciate this game more than I did, If you are an 'old skool' MK fan, you probably wont like it.
