  • Beautiful but irksome

I rented this game hoping for great things having followed the series in Manga form.

The first thing I noticed about this title was the download on to my decrepit PS3's Hard Drive. Having left it whirring away for 20 minutes I came back to find it still plodding away- unsure if this is a result of my hardware or of the software, but was certainly time consuming for a game that one would not have assumed would take up that much space. This time consumption- staring at a loading screen is then transplanted into the game between every mission.

I would make the suggestion that the development time for this game was heavily in favour of making a game that is beautiful and true to its Manga style roots- but is somewhat lacking in direction and purpose.

I found search tasks to be tedious and hardly to the purpose of the game- what you have is essentially a game saying that it is a fighting game but between those fights you must do search quests (Hereafter referred to as aptly named “chores”) to improve and therefore your character improvement is not from developing your fighting prowess but from how many widgets you can collect

Camera was often irksome and liked to stare at walls during 'chores' and targeting system liked to target subjects not within actual eyesight- often hidden behind walls- which can be frustrating when trying to target something closer to hand.

Actual fighting mechanics weren't too bad to my eyes although I am not really familiar with fighting games- liked the multi direction nature that a fight could take and also the implementation of tools to aid you. My only concern with the fighting was the lack of instruction meant that I felt like there was some untapped potentially awesome move in there that I just couldn't work out.

Overall- enjoyed the way the game looked and applaud the development team for its break from a standard fighting platform- but did not enjoy playing this game. Would recommend a look in for Naruto fans who will gain some joy from playing as the protagonist of their favoured Manga but if you are looking for a fighting game or an adventure game- there is better out there.

  • Terrible

What a mess this game is, it doesn't explain anything at the start you are just left to figure it out for yourself. Broken Bond is superior to this and I will not be bothering with anything else from this developer from now. I'm glad I only rented this as I would have gone beserk if I had actually paid for this shameful excuse for a game. The camera is awful and the controls are a joke, what a waste of time waiting for the outrageous install was..

  • Looks can be deceiving

This looks amazing the screenshots make you think 'yea this is going to be excellent' played the game (not the demo) for an hour and it was putting me to sleep. The music is more suited to a lullaby than a game about ninjas coupled with the tediousness of running around the village collecting overly generic items in order to be able to do the most simple tasks.

Then theres the story mode which seems to follow the manga, but is running around after cats konohamaru really nesseccary just so we can play the story? To do the story mode you have to earn XP by doing free range missions from chasing cats to playing for two hours or take 5000 steps, if this game was designed better you wouldnt have to make a mission about playing time or running abut I'd do it anyway

The demo is what i suggest people stick to. This certainly no ultimate ninja where you just get straight into the action we don't want to bother making a standard punch 2% stronger, just give us a decent fighter, oh wait street fighter, tekken, smash bros.

This game should have been great

  • Authentic Story reproduction

Probably the most authentic anime game ever made. Reason for that is, the story is very true to a lot of detail from the anime, its like watching naruto again, but being Naruta himself.

The Free Battle mode is great, pretty much all the characters you want can be unlocked. The fighting is fast and very much like in the anime.

However this can be only can be really appreciated by Naruto fans, as to anyone else just another anime game.
