This game was extremely good in my books but there were flaws. The game puzzle vary from very easy to very difficult. But even with very difficult ones the hints are not usually that helpful. For example one puzzle shows you matches, in the shape of a dog, and you must show what it would look like after the dog was hit by a car (dunno why?). This puzzle may be very easy to some or very difficult to others. Solving the puzzle relies on your perception of the puzzle not maths as some puzzle may seem. Until the end puzzles in the tower, they require a bit more thinking.

But overall i would suggest the game to most people as it is addictive and interesting. But i would not suggest someone to rent this game if they are ether not good at puzzles or are not willing to spend anything from 10 seconds to 30 minutes on a puzzle.

The graphics are surprisingly good for a DS game and there is a moderately strong storyline so i would rate this game -

    9/10

I really enjoyed this game. I'm not one for games, but I liked the style and the puzzles within the different chapters and missions.

I've already recommended this game to friends and have ordered the second in the series.

  • Refreshing to have a game that challenges you mentally

The DS has produced many 'brain training' games in the past, filled with small questions to get that grey matter working but I don't think any of them have had the warmth or charm of Professor Layton.

In essence it is a game of 130+ little probleming solving challenges each varied between simple maths, riddles, logistic puzzles and many others. The game could have simply been released as stand alone puzzles like 'brain training' but instead the puzzles are intergrated into a beautifully colourful story.

As Professor Layton and his young budding apprentice, Luke, you investigate a series of mysteries in an unusual village whilst it's inhabitants test your puzzle solving skills. The animations are beautiful and the voice artists really pull you into the story, with cut-scenes that keep you glued to the action.

I loved this game as I have played so many games where you can effectively 'auto-pilot' through it with no thought what so ever. This game challenges you, with hours of fun and unlockable bonuses to keep you coming back for more.

My only downside was that some of the puzzles can drive you insane trying to crack them (but the satisfaction for beating a hard puzzle is unparralled).

So if you have a ds- Get this game, the first of what would seem to be an excellent trilogy.

  • Very good game, tough but deceptively simple.

The game is very good simply put. Intersting storey and setting, although its all about the puzzles. Most of the puzzles are tough, especially at first although they are all possible with time and soon you start to realise how there meant to be solved (hint re-read every question) as none of them are that complicated, and if they seem so your answering it wrong. Definatly worth playing.
