Family fun with enough entertainment for anyone to enjoy, perhaps too many gameplay mechanics but it mostly works. A solid 10-12 hours of fun and goood humour.

Video games as they should be.

I thought this was a kids game, so when Ratchet and Clank arrived in the post I didn't exactly drop what I was doing to play it, but when I did, a whole week mysteriously disappeared. RaC blatantly steals from everything that has gone before, from the old Amiga game Earth Worm Jim to the Pirates of the Caribbean films. There is a really nice mix of game modes - running & shooting, platforming, flying, rail, puzzle and dance. The Pirate sections are by far my favourite - the silly background announcements by Captain Slagg and the Pirate Jigs just did it for me. Lots of weapons to upgrade, lots of things to kill and lots of things to collect. Really fun gameplay, long life, lots of bad jokes and a compelling script rank this game above Uncharted in my book.

I would point out that RaC is not very politically correct - hunting and killing leviathans like they were whales.
