Awful

Cumbersome controls ruin what could have been a decent game. The wiimote is woefully underused, it's only function being targetting. Honestly, you can't even point at items in the inventory screen but have to navigate using the control stick, which is soo frustrating.
In-game, the fact the control stick is used for both character movement and camera movement when aiming your gun means you can't move and shoot at the same time, so in every fight you just end up rooted to the spot, plugging away at slowly shuffling zombies until they eventually die, which is really quite boring. And woe betide you if a zombie should somehow make it behind you, as it takes a good few seconds to turn around, by which time you're already dead.
And another thing. Maybe I've just been spoiled playing too many realistic war games, but when I shoot something in the face from a foot away I expect it to die, not groan briefly in pain then hit me with a pitchfork. This applies to both humans and zombies in the game and sort of ruins the whole experience. Instead of being scary, enemies are simply tiresome.
All of which, unfortunately, makes for a very dull and frustrating experience. Bottom line - games should be fun. This game is a chore.- Was this review helpful to you?

(84)Resident Evil 4 Wii
By Jackhammer (23 reviews) from Sutton Coldfield , 27 Sep 2008To be honest all the games we buy or rent are for the kids or my wife as i have never really liked the wii and there was only one game i ever liked that i bought for myself so i never even expected to play it..Wow was i shocked man, i never even thought the wii could handle graphics like this and the first go i had to try it came to just under six hours and past chapter three till some giant sod kept killing me and the wife made me turn off HER wii and go to the shop. The only downside to the game is when you aim to shoot you become stationary and cannot move but this is easily overcome by finding a good open spot to shoot or run through them to a better position. This game is good man and i may give the wii a bit more attention now.....- Was this review helpful to you?

awesome
By allyb53 (4 reviews) from Bromley , 16 Sep 2008Awesome game, immersive atmosphere and generally creepy at times. Plus blowing zombie heads off never gets boring. The graphics overall are very good and though shoddy at times, as good as you could expect from a wii. A long game with great replay value due to side missions. The controls are a little annoying because you have to stop to shoot but zombies move slowly sothis is not a big problem.- Was this review helpful to you?

Boyfriend LOVED!!
By lisasp1ce (1 review) from Belfast , 15 Sep 2008I ordered this for my boyfriend and he absolutely LOVED IT! It took an hour for him to get into it but after that he was hooked and found it a never-ending game with plenty of levels and challenges along the way.
Well recommended and was kept for 3 weeks as he was enjoying it too much to send back!- Was this review helpful to you?

Best game ever
By loppy (4 reviews) from Paisley , 12 Sep 2008RE 4 is the best game I've ever played. It's a real re-invention of the previous RE games, which were good but had lots of proglems with character movement, etc. If you read any reviews that criticise RE 4's control system then they were probably written by people with little experience of these sort of games, RE 4's control system is great. The 'over-the-shoulder' shooting system makes the maximum use of the Wii remote's point-and-fire system. You can literally pick up the controller and use it exactly like a gun, what more would you want? Graphics and sound are excellent, the game is truely creepy and atmospheric, and occasionally downright frightening. It has lots of replay value as well, with the ability to run through parts of the game again as different characters with different goals, etc.
I can't rate this game highly enough. Not only is it the best game I've ever played, and I'm including arcade games in this, because it's a Wii game and has been out for a while it's very reasonably priced. Kicks the ass out of every 360 and PS3 game out there.- Was this review helpful to you?
