  • Disappointing and glitchy

The back story for this game was very well done and I found it interesting. Having a general interest in the Jack the Ripper case will probably help you enjoy it. This is possibly stating the obvious. Unfortunately, the game is extremely glitchy. I encountered a glitch that stopped me from getting one of the achievements, and then a further glitch that prevented me from progressing any further. I had to turn off my Xbox and start from my last save point, so I would recommend VERY regular saves. If you're going for the 1000G then I'd also recommend following a guide so you don't miss out on that one I did, leaving me with an annoying 990. The fact I wasn't willing to play it through again to get the extra 10G probably speaks a lot about the game itself, as I initially rented it as people were saying what an easy 1000 it was. The graphics are extremely poor, the voice actors are appalling, and there's actually not a lot in the way of solving the crime- the vast majority of the game is running erands for people so they'll share information with you. There's not an option to 'run', which I found extremely irritating. Not that you need to run away from anything (there is nothing in the way of action in this game- you're not going to come to blows with Jack unfortunately) but when you spend so much time going about the same area looking for things, the option to run would have saved a lot of time. Also there are several points in the game where it is so dark you literally cannot see anything. Watson will have a lamp to help you out, but he'll insist on hanging around about twenty feet behind you so that he's zero help whatsoever. It's a great pity because the story itself was well handled. Just that the gameplay sucked big time.

i dont know where to start with this to be honest. i have never played such a boring game in all my life. there is just nothing to keep the player interested in completing the story or even staying awake. the story is far too complex to keep an eye on and after about the first hour i couldnt have cared less if he got his man or not. the graphics are dull and the whole game is stupidly dark to the point where you will spend most of your time not knowing in which direction your facing or what your looking at. the only redeeming thing about the game is a quite easy gamerscore uplift. do rent if you want a fun couple of hours gaming

Sherlock Holmes Vs. Jack The Ripper is a game that is poorly executed, poorly presented and just downright boring.

Graphics wise this game looks more suited to a PS2 and are often fuzzy in places. Character animation too is poor with Holmes and Watson just flailing their arms around when speaking. It does not look realistic at all

The game does not play well, you spend all your time walking from one place to another(There is basic 'fast-travel' to speed this along) and talking to the residents of Whitechapel. When the occasional break comes along, it is in the form of a boring puzzle. Most of which you can guess yourself through.

Next we come to the sound. The same dross violin song plays throughout the entire game. Annoying.

There has also been in, previous reviews, a great focus on voice-acting and its not surprising why. The only characters worth listening too are Holmes and Watson as they are they only believable British accents in there and that's because they're posh. The makers of this game clearly don't understand a working-class London accent. Leaving the characters sounding stupid and boring.

The story is long and boring. Jack the ripper is a famous story and how they managed to make it so lifeless is just beyond me. Holmes never even sees the victims (Apart from one, But we don't see it) only a drawing of them where they were murdered. You get to each scene hours later and Holmes says to Watson 'Now Imagine her body is there' It's Ludicrous.

    I don't know how it got a Pegi 16+, It's more like a 7+

Now I'm not saying show us all the gory details with 100%

accuracy. But Gore is not uncommon in games. God of war and Mortal Kombat prove that. A little would've gone a long way here. They do however use actual crime photos from the investigation but that could hardly push it to a 16+, It's simply head shots taken from the morgue. You place them on a map to mark out the crime scenes.

If you like your achievements, It's a fairly easy 1000G. But aside from that i see no reason to complete it. Even if it is to see the bizarre cutscene at the end.

I will probably rent the testament to see if they manage to improve any but I'm not too hopeful after this poor performance

Awful game. Voice acting is terrible and so are the graphics. The gameplay is boring. Wouldn't reccommend it even if your interested in Sherlock/Jack. only gave it a 1 star because its easy cheevos.
