not as good as resident evil 4 because of the camera angle it can get hard to get used to. good story and scary levels make this game very good. the lack of ammo can get annoying as well thats one thing i dont like when you have to try to kill monsters with the knife most of the time every ammo box has a pathetic 10 or 20 bullets which is not enough you might find 1 box in every couple of rooms.

Best Silent Hill of the lot this, for a 2003 game this is still better than the recent 'Silent Hill:Shattered Memories' What a load of cow dung that was! Anyway this has great spooky atmosphere, good GFX(for a PS2) sometimes its a bit too dark but turning up the brightness sorts it out,Sound is fantastic, and it all plays a bit like the Resident Evil games. So yeah great game,

Oh and the title music is excellent. Had me tapping my foot!

I played the first one when it first came out and was thrilled by the sheer terror and grim setting. For some reason i skipped number 2 and sat down to play the 3rd several years later.

Silent Hill 3 is brilliant. Its by far the best looking of the 4, the audio is spookily good and the story line is great (same as the others but unique in its own way). The player plays a teenage girl, an average girl with the usual teenage issues. The cutscene animations are awesome and you really get drawn into her life and you become like an invisible partner in some way.

The levels are also good to play through, although there's the obligatory hospital which appears in the first 3. There is also the subway which can be a bind if it wasn't for the stories you read about it. Later on in the game there are some very special levels which are great.

You have to play this by yourself, in the dark and with a good audio system to experience the true Silent Hill. Its not always what you see on screen that scares you, its what you hear off screen that makes this game so special.
