This game has an oldskool feel to it and it's all the better for it.

The gameplay is really good and the stealth elements are a joy. There is of-course some bugging issues but none are game-breaking and thus i will omit them.

I played the original to death and i will certainly do it again this edition, i've really only played the first 2 missions but already i find myself re-loading checkpoints because i strive for perfection.. something only Sniper elite makes me do! There's no better feeling that going through a whole map flawlessly without triggering alerts and using sound to mask your shots.

The maps are beautifully rendered with a slights blur, at first i wasn't sure i liked the blur as it made the game look dated in some respect but reflecting on it and diving deeper into the game i must admit it has become less of an issue and adds to the oldskool feel I've stated previously.

I don't really know what else to add here other than to say 'this game is worth buying'.

The only reason i didn't give it a 5 was because A) It could have been better with better stealth elements and a better cover system. B) Theres no team deathmatch.

I'm sure 505 stated it doesn't work but i disagree 100% with that comment, anyone who played the 2005 original will tell you that TDM was one of the most fun and intense experiences on ps2/pc at that time. I used to love setting up traps and flanking snipers from all over the world and for me the experience was fluid and engaging.

Perhaps they will add TDM at a latter date (I'm certain the pc version has it)

    4. 5 from 5.. brilliant.

This is awesome, I played Ghost Warrior and found it rather clunky and unenjoyable. This however is much much better, the dynamics, the gameplay and the third person perspective. I also have to admit the childish thrill of watching a spiralling bullet travel slo-mo through jerries fore-head. Rent this game!

Graphics are great, but I didn't 'get into it', if I died I just got frustrated and bored and turned it off. Sniper Ghost Warriors gameplay is a lot better (but I prefer first person shooters). It's worth a go if you have a spare slot in your rent list, because I some people I know loved it.

  • Excellent - This is What Sniping is All About.

Sniping games do not come any better than Sniper Elite V2. I read from one reviewer that they thought the 'odds were stacked against you' with this game. Let me just say, any game you play the odds will be stacked against you, that's the nature of the game, per se. However, use your imagination, be stealthy and snipe at the right moments and you will get through this game even on the hardest difficulty. Sniper Elite V2 is beautifully crafted to test you skill and gives 'YOU' the opportunity to utilise those skills on the battlefield. The graphics are extremely well done. The AI is tricky to come up against but with a little forethought you can easily overcome all obstacles. The guns are crafted superbly and fun to use, but make no mistake, this is a game about sniping in a war zone in which you must take into account the actual wind speed and trajectory of the bullets, not to mention enemies that will try to flank you at every opportunity and can be extremely demanding to say the least, but hey, thats what makes for a good game. No quick sniping here folks. Overall a very enjoyable experience and one that you'll find yourself coming back too.

  • Off target

The sniping aspect of this game is brilliant. It can be as simple or as complex as you like thanks to the varied difficulty levels afforded to the player. You can set the enemies AI and the sniping controls individually. At it's hardest when firing you have to take into consideration windspeed, heart beat, gravity and enemy movement. Or you can turn some of that off and just compensate for gravity. Or have it all off and take straight shots every time. When you sink a shot, you are greeted with a slow mo xray shot of the bullet going through your target and shredding, breaking and obliterating his internal organs. After a while of playing, I sort of realised that the demo for this game was perfect. It encompassed everything that the game did well. Shame the full game isn't that great. Everything outside the sniping is clunky and unpolished, the weapons are awful and the odds are very much stacked against you, which isnt great when your best weapon with hugely stupid amounts of ammo is best used miles away. Overall, don't waste time playing the full thing, just download the demo. You won't have missed anything.
