Similar, yet differant to other games by Nippon Ichi

when I first started up Soul Nomad, the first thing I noticed, aside from the fact it was using the same graphic style as games like Disgaea, Phantom Brave and some other titles, was that you can choose who your main character is, as in 'a boy or girl'.
I thought this would be interesting at first, but I quickly discovered that this meant your main character is the 'silent hero', with the only words they speak being from choices you are given.
The story itself felt a little bland, while the main plot was there, the way it was told was rather dull. And the 'humor' in the felt weak, unlike previous titles which were fun to watch as you moved between fights.
Despite this, I decided to keep on playing, to see if the games battle system would at the least keep me occupied, but there is so little you can really do.
The problem I had was that you cannot move each unit seperatly, instead they are moved as a group and all attack at once. This seemed to limit the amount of tacticle choice in the game, and I couldnt bring myself to play more then a few battles.
Compared to other games by the same company, Soul Nomad is rather weak and just doesnt seem to stand up to other titles in the same genre. I'd avoid this title.- Was this review helpful to you?
