Interesting gameplay

Well this game gave me a lot more than I had expected, it is extremely addicting and fun, most of it requires little thought, and I could sit in the city for hours on end just swinging around and beating up thugs, or seeing how high I could swing without needing to crawl. The only down to this game I could find would be that in some areas, the camera points in a bad direction making it difficult to control your character, but appart from that, it's a great game, one to play!- Was this review helpful to you?

(4)Potentially great but lacking power
By pyromantis (99 reviews) from Nottingham , 29 Jul 2008Not much to say about this game really. Another NTC romp as Spidey. punching, swinging, webbing, chasing. the swing system has been updated from the first game to a much more organic one. every line that Spiderman shoots actually attatches to something in the world, providing for some interesting arial moves. Spidey can also now take himself to ground level at all times, and can go from the lowest point to the highest with no loading times; quite impressive. Where the game falls down is in the haphazard combat system and unfair missions. Punches and kicks land ok, but early in the game most enemies block all your moves, forcing you to use annoying special moves ALL THE TIME. The mission difficulty is erratic at best, and you find yourself completing one mission with ease and finding the next incredibly hard. the camera doesn't do you any favours either. A good effort, but not quite super hero standard.- Was this review helpful to you?

Average game, graphics are too bland...
By a customer from Coventry, England , 27 Sep 2007After seeing the great Spiderman 2 movie I was hoping that the game would be just as great, at first the game is very similar to the first game based on the first film, this was good but the swinging was all to boring.
In this game the developers have tried to make it more interesting by making you have to pay more attention to the swinging and its totally in your control. At the start its a good idea, and it works well, the only problem is that the free roaming city seems too small for Spidey to swing in and it seems out of proportion as you constantly hitting everything when you trying to chase after someone.
Apart from that the gameplay hasn't changed a lot from the first game apart from a few new fighting moves which you have to 'buy' from the shop once you fet so many hero points. To get these points, you have to do small missions around the city such as saving a handbag or stopping some robbers, after some time though it becomes tedious and all to samey.
Another letdown is the graphics, on the old PS2 it does look very dated and once it gets to the close ups of characters it looks pretty bad, the city itself is rather bland as well, again its just grey building after grey building.
Overall, it is not a bad game but its not a great game, if you can get over the swinging system and the slight samey missions then this a great game rental, for the graphics though, I would suggest getting this on the Xbox or Gamecube instead as the graphics would improve. If you liked the movie though and are looking for a decent enough game then you should definately try this!- Was this review helpful to you?
