It's a fine line between harmless and arm-less. College beefcake Rick Taylor is on the bloody trail of his beloved Jennifer who has vanished after an ill-advised visit to the eerie West Mansion. While the beasts of the other-world are doing their utmost to cramp Rick's style, he's lucky enough to stumble on the 'Terror Mask' which imbues our hero with the raw power of a freight train and the physical charms of a giant rippling rack of barbecue ribs. With a blood-curdling primal scream, the pure brute force of Rick is unleashed on the legions of foul demonic creatures, who are incidentally starting to wish they'd stayed in their nice warm hell-beds that morning. In Splatterhouse, Rick will stray far beyond the West Mansion in an original storyline written by Gordon Rennie, the critically lauded comic book author behind works including Necronauts and Judge Dredd. Original artwork for the game is created by artist and Marvel contributor Dave Wilkins, enhancing the impeccable comic book credentials of the game's offal-soaked universe. Players will learn how to harness and focus the juggernaut power of Rick to perform countless brutal attacks and stop his relentless opponents gaining the upper hand, or indeed his actual hand if they succeed in ripping it off. The dynamic combat system will see Rick performing bone-smashing combos and grapples while putting a house full of makeshift weapons to good use, including the series trademark 2x4 and no shortage of limbs ripped from the unwary foes who cross his path. Despite his heavy musculature, Rick has a new gift of agility which he employs to great effect leaping great distances and swinging from handholds in the environments, which he can now explore with abandon. If the odds are stacked unfairly against him, Rick can choose to reanimate the shattered corpses of his fallen combatants to fight alongside him, adding a new dimension to the tactical bloodshed. With no health bar, the horrific damage Rick sustains is shown on his body as torn flesh, exposed organs and lost limbs. Judicious use of the 'Terror Mask' lets Rick regenerate, affording players the pleasure of watching his bones, veins, muscles and skin grow back in real time.

More like a last gen title

Splatterhouse is more like one of the old school slash'em up titles you may have played on the ps1 or earlier consoles.

Gameplay is very repetitive and soon gets old,leaving you feeling playing the game is more of a chore than a pleasure.

Not even worth a rental

I didnt really fancy this game , but i was very suprised and found my self liking it a lot , its well worth a play , it is what it is , a slasher , not much thinking , just kill things , a cool soundtrack aswell thy

instructions kepted coming up how to do combos etc at the wrong times you would be in a fight the game would stop instructions of what to do would appear and when you return you wwould be dead i lost the will to live after a hour

Splatter this game against a wall.

I didn't have high expectations for this game going in, but was hopeful of a nice surprise being that im a huge fan of the original side scrolling games. Well i did get a hugh surprise, it's far worse than i expected. Imagine a game where you constantly die through poor level design and no fault of your own, then have to wait four minutes to reload the checkpoint your were at one second ago, that's the biggest flaw with Splatter house. Even a terrible game i like to play to completion, but by level five i got sick of being pushed into giant fans by this poorly designed game. To it's merits the game has genuinely funny voice acting and the hack and slashing is mindless fun, but with that constant loading time that on occassion actually crashed the game, id say give this one a miss.

Brillant Blood and Gore

I Love this game! Its the best hack and slash I have played in a long time :) The story is good and I Love the banter between ricky and the mask. If you a naughty child at heart you will love all the violence and ott swearing in this game. The only downfall the game has it its loading time! If you have it on the 360 its defo worth installing to the hardrive to cut down on loading times. After playing it for 4 hours every day for the past few days I will defo buy this for my partner for his birthday its that good :D

poor choice

managed to play this for 10 mins before it went back in the post.

thought the graphics were poor and the gameplay was boring.

dont rent unless you are short on your rentals list and need to make up the 10 titles needed!!!
