By broxybear (4 reviews) , 28 Jun 2012[Highly rated reviewer]
very bad kinect detection . i was really looking forward to playing this game and when i started playing it , i was disappointed to find the the kinect features are really bad . My ingame actions did not respond to what gestures i was doing and on several occasions actions were done when i was completed still . Great idea back execution . i thought it may just be my room that i play in but after going online it seems i am not the only one having them problems- Was this review helpful to you?

(9)Could have been great...
By a customer , 21 Jan 2013This had so much potential for showing what a combination of the controller and Kinect could have been. Only problem....it failed miserably!! The Kinect detection is so bad that it made the game unplayable. It took at least 10 attempts for it to recognise me, and when in the game I couldn't even get past the training missions. I HOPE they make a sequel...and I HOPE they address these issues. Steel Batallion on the original XBOX was an absolutely amazing game, and it would be a shame for this title to ruin that.- Was this review helpful to you?

You need to give this ago!!!
By Lord_Shadow666 (6 reviews) from Worcester , 21 Aug 2012OK yes the controls are iffy, but if you are calm and smooth with your arm movements it all starts to work well. So a little tip, use your left hand to load your HEAT ammo and your Right hand to load your AP rounds.
I was annoyed when I started the game till about the 10th mission where I got used to everything, but no one plays the online chapters so they are bit annoying.- Was this review helpful to you?

Pants 'r' Us
By a customer , 16 Aug 2012The kinect detection is rubbish.
The gameplay is cumbersome.
We had this for about 20 minutes before putting it back in the post.
If we could have given it a minus rating it would have got -5 stars
Don't bother it's a waste of time- Was this review helpful to you?

Brilliant idea gone bad
By Cosmos75 (3 reviews) , 13 Aug 2012I was really looking forward to this game and feel utterly let down, the kinect just can't cope with all the different things you need to do and i spend most of the time not even being able to move anywhere and moving things i didn't want to. it also had very poor grafics for a revamped game. the advert made it look easy but its not, its annoying.- Was this review helpful to you?

Unique Fun
By LancsOpinion (12 reviews) from Lancashire , 20 Jul 2012Fun! But if you don't have time for the Kinect don't bother.
You may have read reviews saying how the Kinect sensor doesn't work properly, how you try to do one thing and it does something else.
To a degree that is true, you do have to be exact with your movements, move slower than you might like during the heat of the battle. I found that just added to the game. As shells started to hit my VT, I had to remain calm, remember my training and not just wave my arms around hoping to get the Kinect to see what i wanted it to see.
If I had a criticism it's with some of the missions, sometimes you have to get out of your VT to stab or shoot or move around. Some of the movements you need to do are obvious, others are not. How do I shoot the pistol? I managed it but I'm not sure how. How do I alert my crewman to start the engine? I managed that, it was obvious really but discovering it took a while and was frustrating until I did.
None of the missions are long, but some are very, very short. And some are just like an arcade game. You don't get to move around very much, just stand there while the enemy comes into what is really a shooting gallery. And that is the main reason I've marked the game down. Some missions were good fun, some were very short but added to the story, and some were really intense battles I could play again and again.
It's worth playing the tutorial over and over again to get a feel for what moves the Kinect sees. Pay close attention to the wire frame image of yourself to match the exact moves needed.- Was this review helpful to you?
