Super Mario Galaxy
By a customer from Reading, England , 08 Jan 2008[Highly rated reviewer]
the reviews are very good for this game however the actual game its self does not have an actual story line. this therefor creates a poor game. another problem with this game is you get clips after every stage. this does get rather anoying.
all in all it is really a bad game and i would not recomend it to anyone!!!!!!!!!!!!!- Was this review helpful to you?

An interesting change in the Mario series, but is let down by being too easy and is quite disorienting in places

Mario arrives at Peach's castle just as Bowser uses a UFO to beam the castle into space. Mario gives chase where he meets Rosalina who gives Mario his usual task of collecting stars to progress through the worlds with the overall aim being to fly to the centre of the universe to rescue the princess. Each observation tower (world) consists of of several galaxies which contain 1 or more chapters, with each chapter containing a star. Each galaxy either contains a series of little planets or a large land mass. On the planets (and certain platforms), Mario can walk all around which can be a very disorienting experience because you end up running upside-down. To travel between these small planetary areas, you must find a launch star. Some of them are in plain sight, others appear when the enemies are destroyed in the area, and some involve collecting the 5 warp star pieces first. A quick shake of the remote uses the launch star and you are sent flying to the next planet. To attack the enemies, you can shake the remote to do a spin attack, jump on their heads, or launch a star bit at them (aim with the remote and press B). Mario has his usual jump, triple jump, back-flip to traverse the worlds, and there are sections where you use the remote to pull Mario between the series of small blue stars. Each galaxy has a different theme and there is plenty of variety. As well as the usual platforming, there are levels where you need to race or collect something specific. The difficulty is mainly very easy, but some levels can be challenging, mainly the extra levels. By collecting the star bits around the levels, either by walking into them or pointing your remote at them, you can then feed them to the 'hungry Lumas' to unlock another galaxy. Extra galaxies also unlock after certain numbers of stars have been collected. To reach the last boss you only need 60 stars out of the possible 120, so if there is a level you don't like, it's optional to play it. In terms of suits, not many levels utilise them. The usual Fire Flower and Ice Flower return, in addition to the Bee, Spring and Boo suits. Bee Mario can fly for a limited time and can land on flowers, but will lose the suit when he touches water. Spring Mario bounces around and can spring really high when he jumps. Boo Mario can float and pass through certain solid walls. It took just under 10 hours for me to complete the game, but then you can continue to get the remaining 59 stars, so there is plenty to do. Graphically, people say it's among the best looking Wii games, but for me it seemed to lack detail and often look a bit on the dull side considering it is a Nintendo game. Overall, Mario Galaxy is a good game and is an interesting change in the Mario series, but is let down by being too easy overall and for being quite disorienting in a few places.- Was this review helpful to you?

Massive Let Down..!!!!!!!
By a customer , 26 Apr 2012I still don't understand the good reviews on this game...I'm glad I didn't bought this game at Christmas for my 3 year old Son otherwise I would cry the money for many years...Boring from the beginning...annoying after every stage...It makes me wonder how there is people getting paid to create this low quality games and how the Nintendo Sales Department are approving this type of game to come out to the market...No wonder that they are in a massive market crash...Well, another dissapointing WII game.- Was this review helpful to you?

Didn't get going quick enough!
By a customer , 26 Sep 2011There is a lot of waiting around before the game gets going, and lots of instructions to read throughout, so the game doesn't flow well. Super Mario Bros and Mario Kart are so much more fun than this Mario game.
Some of the challenges are quite hard and you have to keep going back over the same stuff to get there again which is a little frustrating for a younger child. We were frustrated by this game and didn't enjoy it so returned it after the weekend.
Worth a rent for a weekend though.- Was this review helpful to you?
