(57)excellant game
By comicnerd (6 reviews) , 20 Dec 2012great great game, first zelda ive ever played and it didnt dissapoint, the contols worked well and the story was captervating, i liked the creepy moments like the start of the blizzard fight and that mushroom trip cutscene explaining the beggining of the mask, also zant was a brilliant bad guy, final boss was dissapointing though cos they made the week point blatently obvious even for a zelda boss. loved the boss batles and dungoens. though i gotta admit i started using a guide cos i suck, still enjoyable.- Was this review helpful to you?

The Legend of Zelda series is great, and Nintendo deliver once again
By WildPork (60 reviews) from Leeds, England , 15 Apr 2012[Highly rated reviewer]
Anyone that has played the Zelda series will know exactly what to expect with Twilight Princess. The chosen one; an elven looking male called Link must progress through 8 dungeons acquiring new items in each, solving puzzles and eventually saving the day. The previous game; Wind Waker received a mix reception due to the change in graphical style to a cartoon like cel-shaded style which in my opinion worked very well. Twilight Princess goes back to the murky looking graphics reminiscent of the fans favourite Orcarina of Time and is set in the familiar location of Hyrule. I was worried the Wii's control scheme would ruin the game but they work surprisingly well. The nunchuck stick controls Link's movement and shaking the nunchuck performs a spin attack with the Z button for locking on. Moving the remote performs normal attacks and pressing A performs a jump attack. Items are mapped to the d-pad and you can switch them to the B button quickly to use them. Even though the majority of the game is predictable, Nintendo has thrown in a few changes such as Link's ability to turn into a wolf and although these sections are usually more simpler and linear; it does offer something different and helps keep the game-play more varied. As a wolf, you cannot use items and the task is usually to follow a trail using the wolf's ability to track a scent. The game is large and it takes around 30 hours to complete the main quest, and there are plenty of secrets to track down too if you like doing the side quests. The dungeons are well designed as always although the latter dungeons felt a bit shorter and not as enjoyable. The boss fights seemed interesting enough but some of them didn't seem very offensive and barely took any health off at all. Usually in previous Zelda's, you need to keep dodging attacks whilst you work out the correct strategy and may end up nearly dying by the time you figure it out, but this never seemed to be the case. In Wind Waker, I found that the world was full of characters and a lot of them had great personalities and charm, but in Twilight Princess, the world feels sparse and the only character that you will care about is Midna who accompanies Link on his quest. Overall, Twilight Princess is a provides a great and lengthy quest but the boss difficulty and lack of personality holds it back from being perfect.- Was this review helpful to you?

Zelda brillance
By a customer , 08 Feb 2012This was actually one of the first Zelda games I have ever played and it really got me into the Zelda series.
Ever since I played this game I have began to play more and more of the games; it really is a fun game with easy controls and deep game-play. The story is excellent like all the other Zelda games as well.
At the beginning it does drag on a little with the cut scenes but if you're patient it soon picks up into the real action of the game and then never ceases to amuse you throughout.
The graphics are really beautiful and blend in with the game-play fantastically. Also, it is a really challenging game with some complicated puzzles that add to the fun although they can get very frustrating at times as it sometimes can take quite a while to figure out and this is one of the reasons why I got stuck once in a while as it can be hard to figure out where you need to go next to progress through the story.
The maps of the game are smartly thought out and are impressively huge. Switching between the wolf and Link brings new features that are unique to this Zelda game that brings many advantages that you need to progress through the story.
The diverse items that you need to collect that unlocks new passages to roam through is extreme; it really does extend the amount of amusement you can have.
All in all: this is a must get for any Nintendo, Zelda and RPG fan, but some improvements could be made to the series.- Was this review helpful to you?

Great game, could keep you busy for weeks!
By janice110291 (25 reviews) , 02 Oct 2011Big game, Hours of enjoyment, hard enough to keep you interested.
Lots of different bosses and mini bosses which get harder throughout the game, So many different things to do you can often get a little confused at what to do next, I had to go on the internet a few times to know what i had to do next or how to do something complicated.
There aren't Loads of cut scenes just a few here and there and they can be easily skipped if you don't want to watch them.
Younger children may find this too difficult as you need plenty of initiative to work out what to do, where to go and how to do it from looking around and speaking to people with clues.
Each chapter of the game gives you plenty to overcome and once defeating a boss you get something special like a new weapon or something to help you continue the game. there's lots of little hidden areas and prizes to find.
they threw in one or two small mini quests such as finding golden bugs and catching Souls - which are easy when you know where they are but its very time consuming finding them all and you don't get a very good reward for taking so much time to do it either. There's also lots of puzzles which can be very frustrating but the harder they were the better you felt after having completed them.
over all i enjoyed the game and it fills in a lot of time so it can keep you occupied for quite a while.- Was this review helpful to you?

Old-school Nintendo brilliance
By Jules74656 (7 reviews) , 24 Jul 2011I've been a fan of Zelda since the SNES days, and this offering for the Wii is nothing short of phenomenal. Admittedly, the control system took a little getting used to, but after a while became second nature. Beautifully rendered, lengthy gameplay, and all the essential elements of a Zelda title. I'm on my 3rd play through of the game, the first time I played taking me over 70 hours to complete. A massive game, well worth playing, whether a long standing fan of the franchise or not- Was this review helpful to you?
