More advanced, less fun
By Richard Stebbing from London, UK , 20 May 2007[Highly rated reviewer]
I rented this game after finding the Golf mode on Wii Sports incredibly fun. I have never really played Golf games until then, but found the interactive functions of the Wii almost ideally suited to a Golf game.
With Wii Sports Golf being limited to 9 courses I thought that Tiger Woods 07 would be the perfect step-up. More courses, steeper difficultly curve and in general a more advanced game. To an extent this is all true - the game certainly is harder to master, and obviously contains many popular golf courses from around the world.
However the aesthetics of the game are meaningless when the game has some fairly basic, and fundamental flaws in the gameplay.
The first of these is the golf swing. It is ridiculously inaccurate lacking the power meter that Wii Sports Golf has to help you hone your practice shot. Couple that with a swing that is unresponsive around 20% of the time, (often leading to the computer taking your shot when you move your arm back to the starting position) and you have a very frustrating game feature.
Other glaring errors include the lack of a 'floor camera view' for putting, meaning you cannot see accurately the lie of the green. Instead putting is left to a bizarre series of moving dots, that were again frustrating - rather than drawing the gamer in. A dud irritatingly smug commentary was virtually the final straw for me.
All in all, if you stick at this game, you will get good. However my time is not unlimited, and after playing this game for around an hour, uncovering a host of debilitating problems, I decided that was too poorly designed to waste my time with. For me a game should be fun and enjoyable from the off - that's why you keep playing. Instead this game is frustrating, lacking the crucial gameplay to succeed. Better off sticking with Golf on Wii Sports.- Was this review helpful to you?

(10)Ropey gameplay
By a customer from Falmouth , 26 Jan 2009I have to agree with the other comments on the controls, you can be doing ok then the game decides it'll take a shot for you and you're in the rough and any hope of a good round is gone. The putting is also vulnerable to this, as well as to a green system that tells you virtually nothing about the slopes and which can lead to huge distances in the distance you can make off a putting stroke.- Was this review helpful to you?

Grrr!!
By MrBen (19 reviews) from Manchester , 05 Sep 2007This is an excellent game but don't buy it expecting it to be a short step up in diffculty from the Wii Sports Golf game.
There are a number of reviews moaning about the controls being unresponsive and the Wii taking shots for you. I found that if you keep the controller still and don't thrash at the ball like a maniac then you should be hitting 100% every time, even after a few beers.
The only complaint I have is that the game is pretty much exactly the same as its last incarnation, with a few different courses not added but included at the expense of previous ones. This also applies to the Pro's.
Other than that, a quality little title that will grip you like nicotine if you allow it to.- Was this review helpful to you?
