If you are an old school splinter cell lover, do not play it. This will wreck great memories of the game we once loved. If you have not played them before, then this game may be enjoyed by you.

I really enjoyed the gameplay in Splinter Cell Convicition bar a couple of stupidly hard levels!

I have never played any of the previous games so didn't really know what was going on but I didn't really care I just enjoyed sneaking about I just sat there with a glazed expression on my face when there was a cut scene lol

But I'm sure the story is great if you have played the others, I didn't really like Sam or care about his daughter but whatever it was fun lol

  • Good but misses the point slightly

I think this is a big change of direction for Splinter Cell. It's a pretty good game to be honest. The graphics are excellent and the way they change to black and white when you are hidden in shadow works pretty well.

The light sources in the game look good and cast shadows well, The in game animation looks excellent too. The main way it has changed is the fact that it used to be in your best interest to stay hidden and kill from shadow, because being spotted would often as not result in your death. In Splinter Cell Conviction however, its usually much easier and faster to kick a gun battle off and throw in some proximity and remote mines, clear the area and move onto the next.

It's probably more popular because of this but I can't help but feel that its now missing the point of the original games slightly. you can still play it stealthily, but its kind of hard to justify this when you spend 45 minutes trying to sneak through an area only to die and start it again, when you know it would be possible to very quickly and noisily dispatch with the enemies with gun play and explosives.

Its not a bad game by any means, just a game that's opened up its options and in doing so removed the need for stealth somewhat.
