WRC - evolution but not revolution
By Rufus from Midlands, England , 05 Apr 2006[Highly rated reviewer]
The WRC series on the PS2 now moves into it's fifth incarnation and oddly becomes 'evolved'. In fact the changes between 4 and evolved are possibly the fewest between any of the editions thus far.
Graphics - not much has happened here, a little tweaking and some nice smoke/mist effects along with the crowd now moving when you drive near them.
Sound - same as ever but there's a new navigator and he is much more informative and reacts more naturally to your performance.
Gameplay - this sees the biggest change from WRC 4. The cars handle slightly differently (perhaps more accurately) and the driver aids can all be tweaked up or down. The corners are now called according to the gear they should be approached in rather than their severity. This is confusing if you have been a long-term WRC player as it is essentially opposite to what you know. There's now online play of course, more cars and plenty of options along the way.
Overall - generally an advancement from WRC 4 but only a small one. The new graphics are slick but not mind blowing and the additional gameplay features are welcome but not revolutionary.- Was this review helpful to you?

(4)Good Game Bad Disk
By NBDone (4 reviews) , 01 Dec 2011I really liked it and would have kept the game for longer but a grubby disk ruined game-play which is a shame because it's a good game.- Was this review helpful to you?
