The Constant Gardener to open London Film Festival

The opening and closing films for this year's London Film Festival have been announced.

The festival will commence on October 19th, with the screening of The Constant Gardener, a film directed by Fernando Meirelles, who made the Oscar nominated City Of God.

It stars The English Patient and Red Dragon actor Ralph Fiennes and Rachel Weisz, who has appeared in About A Boy, Confidence and Constantine.

The film also features Love Actually actor Bill Nighy and Danny Huston, who has been in 21 Grams and The Aviator.

The Constant Gardener is based on the John Le Carre novel of a mysterious murder in Kenya.

The festival will come to end on November 3rd, with the UK premiere of George Clooney's Good Night, And Good Luck, starring Robert Downey Jr and Patricia Clarkson.

The London Film Festival will screen a total of 280 films from as many as 60 different countries.
