Wallace & Gromit make Oscar longlist

Wallace And Gromit: The Curse Of The Were-Rabbit, which has performed successfully at the box office in the UK and the US, has been nominated for the Oscar longlist for best animated feature.

The film represents the first time that Aardman Animations has made Wallace and Gromit into a feature-length film, after winning short animation Oscars twice before with the popular characters.

In total, ten films have made the longlist, which will be shortened to the final nominations on January 31st, with the actual Oscar ceremony taking place on March 5th.

Valiant, another British animation featuring the voices of Ricky Gervais, Ewan McGregor and Hugh Laurie made the grade, as did Chicken Little, Robots and Tim Burton's Corpse Bride, with Johnny Depp, Helena Bonham Carter and Emily Watson.

Other animations on the longlist are Madagascar, Gulliver's Travel, Hoodwinked, Howl's Moving Castle and Steamboy.
