Two cartoon boys come to DVD

Next week sees the release of the director's cut of Hellboy and the cartoon Steamboy.

Director Guillermo del Toro's (Blade II, Mimic) version of the film contains ten minutes of new footage not included in the original version and the three DVD set comes with a great number of documentaries and features that take you behind the scenes as the comic book was transferred to the big screen.

The film, starring Ron Perlman, John Hurt and Selma Blair, is one of a few films that successfully took a cult comic and brought to the cinema.

Steamboy comes from the man behind the manga classic Akira. The film took ten years to make, costing $22 million, mixing two-dimensional and three-dimensional graphics.

The film is set in Victorian England as a boy inventor uncovers a new source of power that leads him into a deadly conflict.

The English version of the film includes the voices of X-Men star Anna Paquin, Alfred Molina (Spider-Man 2, Coffee And Cigarettes) and Patrick Stewart (Star Trek: The Next Generation).
