Cool $100 million for Ice Age sequel

Animated film sensation Ice Age 2: The Meltdown has become the first film of 2006 to break the $100 million box office taking milestone.

The figures for the slick cartoon adventure, produced by Fox and Blue Sky Studios, were well down on its opening takings of $65 million last weekend but a decent showing of $34.5 million this time round did see it through the landmark figure.

With the guest voices of Ray Romano, Seann William Scott and Queen Latifah among others, the film has not received the most gushing of reviews but that will be of little concern to chiefs behind the film.

Meanwhile, in the UK charts, Spike Lee's crime thriller Inside Man has hung on to top spot, holding off new entrants Failure to Launch and The Shaggy Dog.

Eli Roth's highly-rated horror film Hostel slips from second to fourth, the Pink Panther drops from third to fifth and Basic Instinct II comes in at fifth.
