Had enough of hip-hop?

1 stars out of 5.0
Hip-hop artists have been permeating the movie world for some time now and Hollywood has become the perfect tool to maintain a 'gangsta' persona and subsidise a bling lifestyle.

Some hip-hop stars have had more success than others.

Tupac Shakur's performance as Birdie in Above The Rim was acclaimed by hip-hop aficionados and other performances in Gang Related, Juice and Gridlock'd were widely considered a success, whereas LL Cool J's appearances in Deep Blue Sea and Halloween H20 were more of an acquired taste.

However, since a certain Marshall Mathers appeared in Eight Mile the semi-autobiographical rags-to-riches hip-hop tale appears to be en vogue.

Curtis Jackson, AKA 50 Cent, was one of the first to follow suit with Get Rich Or Die Tryin' and now, Missy Elliot looks set to join the party.

The Get Your Freak On star, formerly known as Missy Misdemeanour Elliot, has had a pitch of her life story bought by Robert De Niro's Tribeca production company and is being tipped to take the lead role.
