New films on DVD this week

This week sees a number of new DVD releases following a summer of big-budget blockbusters.

X-Men: The Last Stand is the third instalment in the series about mutated humans who wield special powers. When a cure for mutation is created, the team must decide whose side they are on – mutants or humans - in Brett Ratner's addition to the X-Men series.

The remake of disaster film Poseidon is also out this week, starring Kurt Russell and Josh Lucas as passengers on the ill-fated cruise liner.

United 93 is the true story of the fourth hijacked plane on September 11th 2001. Special features on the DVD include an audio commentary from director Paul Greengrass and a 60 minute documentary about the victims' families participation in the movie.

Lastly, this week sees the release of gore-fest horror film Hostel: The Unseen Edition, from Eli Roth and Quentin Tarantino. The story follows a trio of backpackers traveling through eastern Europe who find themselves tricked into a grisly murder-for-profit business.

Extras on the Hostel DVD are a commentary from director Eli Roth and a behind-the-scenes featurette.
